Hi everyone, this is my first post on the Flower Garden thread!! I hope you can help me. I recently moved and noticed today that I have a grasshooper problem. There are so many of them in my yard, on my trees/plants. Right now they are small and black but I hear (from neighbors) that they turn into huge grasshoppers. Is there a pesticide or something I can use to get rid of those buggers?

Thank you for any help/advice. :)

YIKES!!!   I don't have any advice for you, but WELCOME to the Garden Board! Sorry that such a nuisance has brought you here!

It's kind of rare to see a grasshopper in my yard - I've only seen a few in the past year or two. I hope you find a solution before they get too big - GOOD LUCK!!!!!:D :D :D

Sorry, I don't know what pesticide to use. I haven't seen them in our area yet but I know they will emerge soon. Squash as many of them NOW as you can!!! They get so big and gross and it's very disgusting to squash them later.

That's a link to a thread that has links to some pictures of the adult grasshoppers.

Good luck! Put on your stomping boots and go to town! ;)

Hi Christine, it's great to see you here! :)

Wow, they sound like nasty little guys (or buggers as you described them....LOL). :teeth:

Check out the following link. I don't really know anything about this product, but it might be worth investigating, especially since it's for those BIG Florida grasshoppers. :)

Grasshopper bait

Ewwww....TigH...I remember those...great pics though!!

:)

I heard that there is NO pesticide that will kill those Buggers, you have to actually STEP real HARD on them.....kill the Black and Orange ones NOW before they turn into the UGLY ones!!!:o

Christine have a party and play some stomping music!

I just burned about 10 calories stomping grasshoppers. Found a slew of them on my mandevilla!!!! They must have just hatched. They were pretty big for baby bugs ('bout half to three quarters of an inch). I didn't get them all, but I got most of them. I feel guilty about it, but they do so much damage to my plants when they are older. *sigh*

Oh My! Part II, The Giant Grasshopper's Returns. Just when you thought you could sleep, There back!

Maybe I'll stay up here in the NE we may get lots of cold and snowy weather, but grasshoppers don't need saddles.

Wish I could help with you grasshopper problem.

LOL, thanks for all of the suggestions.

As far as the stomping party - ok all you FL DIS'ers, come on over - bring a good pair of stomping shoes with you though!! :teeth:
