Grapefruit Beer-Epcot

We were at ESPN Zone last year, and the bartender suggested we try it with a shot of Absolut Mandarin. WOW.

Nice.. I've had it a few times this summer with a shot of Patron & Triple Sec... made myself a nice little Grapefruit Beer Marg. Love it this way, but plain is good too.

I looked at that once, it was like $30 to have it shipped for a 6 pack, Even more expensive than Disney, LOL. I didn't need it quite that bad.

Wow! You got that right!! I'd rather save the "little bit extra" and just go to Disney to enjoy it!

This is my family's beer! It traces back to my 16th great grandfather, Peter Shoffer, 1425-1505. The spelling has taken many forms since then including Schoffer, Shofer, Shaffer, Schaffer & Schaeffer. Also interesting to note, his wife, Christina Fust, was the daughter of Johann Fust, the printer that sued Johan Gutenburg as stealing his "claim to fame" as the Inventor of Printing. The courts sided with Fust, however to this day, as seen in Spaceship Earth, Gutenburg still gets the credit! Its all on Wikipedia if anyone is interested. It is hard to find in PA, I have to go across the border to NJ where there is a distributor that sells it by the case, for $45. I tease my husband all the time that as a direct descendant, I should become a US distributor of Schofferhoffer!

I tried this two years ago and loved the grapefruit flavor. We are going in three weeks and I am looking forward to trying it again. Has anyone been to the festival this year and tried it?

Oh I haven't tried that one! I loved Abita Grapefruit all during the season.

I had it last year and I LOVED IT! I recently found it at our local 6 pack place (in PA you can't buy beer in grocery stores so it is usually just by the case at beer distributors). I am obsessed!

Schofferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen is always in our beer/wine refrigerator, because it's my absolute favorite!

That stinks!

I have seen this on various dining reports and everyone talks about how good it is. I have been dying to taste it and I don't know if I should wait and try it at Epcot or go ahead and get some here at home. You all are making it very difficult for me to wait!

Without this thread I never would have looked up to see if it was available near me! Already looked it up and can get it at a couple of the Hyvees near by! Should hold me over til our next trip in November. Cannot wait!!

For the times when in Disney download the Beers & Ears app. It will give you locations on where to find specific beers, and vice versa look up the place you want to go and it lets you know everything on the menu. The Bellevue lounge at the Boardwalk now has Schofferhoffer Grapefruit as well. I ran to the store on my lunch and found out the Budweiser distributor has now started carrying it so I am hoping that means it will start showing up in restaurants too!!

Shiner's Ruby Redbird (summer seasonal) is a good domestic grapefruit beer, though I would not call it sweet.

Wow, that app is amazing. DH loves beer and it's a personal goal of his (not joking!) to try as many unique beers as possible. He is going to love having those maps when we go to EPCOT!
