After a good nights sleep we were up early - we had a character breakfast booked at CP for 8.10am..........apart from DH and I none of the others had been to WDW so the idea or their first visit being early, with no crowds and a character breakfast really appealed. We set off about 20 mins later than I wanted but still in plenty of time. Found the Sherberth road shortcut and got to the parking lot at about 7.30am. We had to validate our tickets and a lovely cast member helped DGd aged 6, made her feel really special and made a big thing about 'welcoming her to WDW' - went to the monorail and we were first in the line so I asked if we could go in with the driver - only 4 were allowed so obviously it was DS his wife (DDIL) and the 2 girls) - hubby and I went in the first carriage. 'What a great start' I thought to myself....... but I shouldn't have done....

At Grand Foridian the monorail broke down and we were advised to get off and go to MK on the water launch....so we got off, but on the way to the motor launch we were told that it had already gone and no more would go for 20 mins so we went back to the monorail.....we finally arrived at MK at about 8.55am but were assured that CP would have kept our 8.10am appt for an hour and just to explain when we got there....which we did....we took a few photos on the main street but the lovely quiet entry to MK didn't happen since they were letting people in by then anyway.

The CB was good and the girls loved it. The eldest just loved the whole thing - the youngest was a bit nervous of the characters....Pooh and Tigger were more acceptable to her then EEyore and Piglet - she has Pooh and Tigger toys so we reckon that familiarity with the characters beforehand does help.

After breakfast - which we took our time over because it was all so new - we made our way to Fantasyland but noticed that people were beginning to get places for Cinderellabration so we decided to wait for that, and we were right at the front when the show started, It was wonderful, none of us have seen that before and it was a good start to the parks....

We then went into fantasyland - straight into Philarmagic which was very well received - the lines were building up by now and the girls were really excited, -(even the little one who is just 2, she learned a new word that day.....it was 'WOW' ...she was copying her mum and her big sister) - so we just did the rides with shorter lines Pooh, Small World, Aladdin and the BTMR when we eventually got out of Fantasyland. We also got good positions for the 'dreams' parade and went to see Mickey in the Judges tent...the little one ran away and buried her face in her daddy's leg when he held out his hand, he was good though and he didn't push it. (Towards the end of the holiday when we went to the backyard BBQ I swear it was Mickey trying to run away from her!!!!!!!)

We queued for more autographs with the girls - and had a browse round Main
Street. I bought myself a Mickey Mouse watch - I'm a grandma but determined to be 'young at heart' so each time I look at it I'll get a reminder.

We set off back at around 7.30, MK was very crowded and we knew that we could go back another day. Unfortunately we took a wrong turn looking for the Sherberth Road so the 20mins drive turned into a very long one.

We were all tired so when we got back to the villa we ordered pizza and turned in.

I am usually a light sleeper but the next morning I was told that the girls woke in the night and I never heard a thing!!!!!!!

Well I'm 42 and my watch has Mickey, Donald, Minnie, Daisy & Goofy on it ~ and I love it

You certainly had a good day at Magic Kingdom and I'm glad you enjoyed your character breakfast :)

On our 1st visit to WDW I bought a winnie the pooh watch with money my mum gave me for my 40th birthday.

It still reminds me of the brill time we had.

I'm 42 and last time I bought a Chip & Dale watch, up till then I hardly used to wear a watch, but I love this one and wear it all the time.

Glad you enjoyed Crystal Palace breakfast. DD was 2 during our last trip and like your GD we have a variety of reactions depending on the character and the day!

Shame about the monorail but breakfast appeared to be the treat you wanted :goodvibes
