Here's a true story for you.

My 95 yo DGM passed away about two weeks ago after a 12 year battle with Alzheimers. The Friday after we buried her, I was laying in bed thinking that I wish she could send me a sign or communicate with me in some way to let me know she's OK and that there is an afterlife.

I went to sleep. 15 minutes later, all of our smoke detectors went off in our house. There was no smoke. All of us were awakened. This has never happened in the seven years we have lived here. The batteries have gone dead before, but they just give a chirp as they are going and we change them. No power outage or anything else that would explain this. DH reset and all was fine.

I think grandma was letting me know she's there and it's OK.

What do you think?

I love signs from our loved ones who have gone on! Hope it made you feel better.

It made me feel so much better when my Dad gave me a sign several days after he passed away in 2005. DH called me downstairs because DS (who was 5) was fixing himself a very funny sandwich -- peanut butter and sweet pickles -- DS had never asked for one before and they didn't realize it was one of my Dad's favorite sandwiches. (it's an acquired taste!)

After that my sister and I made a pact that whoever goes first will try and send the other a signal.

Sorry about your grandmother.

The more I think about this sign, the more solid my faith becomes. I really needed this from her. The night before she passed, I woke up thinking she was standing next to my bed. I now believe this was her spirit - out of her body.

It was my Grandma. She loves me and is waiting for me on the other side when my time comes. It is a great comfort.

She would have done something like that to be sure I heard and understood.

We had a similar experience with my FIL the afternoon that he passed. We even called the fire dept. the second time it happened - about 2-3 weeks after he passed on my son's b-day. The fire dept. had no clue what was setting them off. I think we knew.;)

aww I bet she was! I hate sudden loud noises so I'd be freaking out if that happened to me, but I'm sure that if the situation was reversed... I'd have warm fuzzy feelings :goodvibes

I do not know if it is signs from our loved ones of if God sends the signs to comfort us but I can tell you what happen a few hours after my mom passed that was witnessed by her entire immediate family.

My mom was from Kansas and loved the sone "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

My mom passed at 2:11 am. The mortuary came for her at about 6:45 am.

At about 7:30 am with NO rain, clouds or bad weather whatsoever in the sky was the brightest double rainbow we had ever seen. It lasted for quite a while also. We knew that was our sign that she was fine.

Completely agree w/ you!!!! Don't brush off those sorts of things. Those that have passed can't audibly talk to us unless its in our dreams. So, pay attention. DGM might send you something else. Great book, "We are their Heaven" by Allison DuBois.

When my grandmother died the next day I took a phone call from someone asking for her, I explained she had passed away, she didn't even seemed surprised, sounded exactly like Grandma, I knew I was talking to her, she asked if I was her granddaughter, she said she had a grandaughter, the sweetest little girl in the world. Then she said I have to go now, be a good girl! I asked her name, she said "greta' no one knew anyone named Greta.

Funnly, you don't just call up for an old friend, learn she's dead, then say goodbye without expressing any surprise or aks to speak to the parents (I was just a child then), I knew it was Grandma saying Goodbye but she didn't want to scare me so we played "pretend" that it was someone else so I wouldn't freak! Goodbye Grandma!

And I bet if you play close attention, she's probably still around you. Enjoying your life w/ you.

I'm not religious in the least, though the rest of my family is. After my mom passed away in January 2006, my sister had a couple of things happen to her that made her stop and go "hmmmm....".

The first was while my sister was driving. My sister and mom had many conversations during the time my mom was in the hospital (she died of lung cancer at the age of 53) and I guess in one of them, my mom, who was a food lover, remarked that she just hoped they had miracle whip in the afterlife, which made my sister laugh that this is what my mother was concerned about. Well, as she was driving, she looked up at a billboard which said "God loves Miraclewhip" along with the picture of the mayo! I've never seen that advertisement anywhere else, so it does seem pretty strange.

My mom was also a collector of snowmen. She loved getting snowmen figurines for the Christmas tree, and other such cute decorations. Usually, come wintertime, catalogs would show up to my parents' house with all sorts of that stuff to buy. Out of the blue, in July, more than six months after my mom passed away, my sister got a catalog for these winter ornaments/knicknacks, even though she had never been on the company's mailing list before. You guessed it -right on the front cover was a large picture of a snowman. :goodvibes

Now, I'm the sort of guy who calls these things a coincidence, or a strange occurence. But I know it sure made my sister feel better.

I KNOW that my grandparents are watching over me. We were so stressed out this past june thinking that our sons cancer had come back. Every day while we waited, I would find pennies on my den floor. I couldn't imagine where they were all coming from until I told someone and they told me they were pennies from Heaven. I firmly believe that my grandparents were trying to tell me to stop worrying and that everything was going to be allright. Thank goodness they were right-it didn't come back after all!!!

To all of you who have suffered a loss, my prayers are with you. Patty

This has nothing to do with death, but I believe it is a true sign that God is around us and answering prayers. 1st off, my sister was tested for both skin and breast cancer. She just got the results, both came back negative. And just 2 nights ago, I was stressing out really bad because of my DH's test (long story short, if he fails he gets kicked out of the air force.) Anyways, I was stressing so bad the other night from it that when I went to bed, that night I had a dream. I was in a building and it was nice and warm and it felt like a spa place. However, it was just a building with some chairs and that was it. Well in my dream I got a huge relaxing feeling and I felt so much at peace. No stress, no worries. When I woke up from that dream, I felt like my dream was real. I was very calm, relaxed. I wasnt stressing about DH's test. And that feeling lasted all day. It was like God touched me with his hands and relaxed me and letting me know everything is gonna be OK.

Before I share my story with you - I want to say sorry to hear about your grandma. I lost my dad (and hero) only 9 months ago to Pancreatic Cancer. He passed away only 1 month after diagnosis. I am still numb and in shock.

I totally understand where you are coming from that you want a sign from the afterlife. I have so many questions about my dad and just need to know he is at peace and happy. As long as I know that (and that he will always be with me) I think I can cope better. I have read a book called Hello From Heaven which talks about similiar "After Death Communication" signs. I highly recommend it.

I had a weird sign happen to me. I am still not totally sure if it is my dad. I like to believe it is.

We were visiting my mom about 2 months after he passed and we noticed her light fixture was not flushed into the ceiling...it was sort of hanging. My husband was trying to push it in. When we got home, we noticed our fire alarm was hanging off the ceiling. I asked my husband if he changed the batteries and he said no...there is no need to as it is electric. This has never happened in the 10 years we lived here. About 10 min later...our alarm home security company phoned us and asked if we pushed the panic signal. I said no - we were all eating dinner! I thought this was very odd. Both things happened 10 min. apart and both had to do with home security and fire alarms - protection. I don't know what this means. I like to think it was Dad telling me he was happy and protecting me...

Hugs to you...;)
