My 2 mo granddaughter is back in the hospital for observation. She has trouble sometimes breathing and stops breathing for about 15 seconds just after she wakes up.

She was in the hospital a couple weeks ago and her pulse ox would drop to 82 when she got really upset. My DD uses the Playtex Ventair bottles and GDD breathes through the bottle when she is feeding because she can't breathe through her nose. They had her on an apnea monitor when she was in the hospital the last time and did an upper GI.

They did another Upper GI this afternoon. They are trying to figure out why she stops breathing as often as she does. She had a doctor's appointment today and the doctor sent her to the hospital for 24 hours observation.

Hopefully they will figure out what is going on with her.

This happened to my son was he was about the same age. Unfortunatly it happen for just over a year. My son ended up being on oxygen too. He did grow out of it. Does your granddaughter start breathing again on her own? Does she stiffen? Does her heartbeat decrease? Does it happen when she is sleeping?
If they have tests done at the hospital ask for copies as soon as they are available. They wanted to put my son on medication that the tests did not warrant. I will keep her and your family in our prayers. Please feel free to pm me with any questions.

Oh my goodness! You all must be worried half to death! Of course we'll pray for her. It sounds complicated. I hope the doctors can get to the bottom of it quickly and she can go home soon.

Maridw, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your beautiful granddaughter

Aw, sorry to hear that. Has she been seen by the cardiologist yet? It could be heart related.

Sending good thoughts someone diagnoses her quickly.

I was just noticing her picture in your signature on another thread, and thinking how adorable she is. I hope and pray she's ok.

(((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

How frightening! I will definitely keep her in my thoughts and prayers..

I wish you the best of luck.

When my first DS16 was born we had him tested for apnea. It runs in my DH's family. Of 3 brothers, each had a child with apnea. It is horrible but thank God they all out grew it. Now they are healthly, happy 18, 16 & 16.

My thoughts and prayers are with your granddaughter and her extended family.

She does start breathing on her own, but then she gets upset which then drops her oxygen level. I don't know if her heartbeat decreases. They did an ekg on her yesterday afternoon while she was resting. She had been asleep, but when they came in to hook all the wires up, she woke up and thankfully we were able to keep her calm to do it. They had tried before and she had gotten too upset and couldn't do it.

I talked to my DD this morning and she is waiting to hear what they are going to do. Yesterday when I was holding her, I could hear the rattle in her chest when she was breathing.

Thank you for all the warm thoughts.:)

PS - MaryAnnDVC - Thank you, we took that picture during recital pictures. Got her dressed real quick and got a few quick pics while she was awake and quiet. Have a couple that look like she is playing air guitar. ;)

This is a picture of her in the hospital now (before they hooked up the iv):

I guess she has more things hooked up to her since I left last night. Her little hospital gown has pink elephants and whales on it.

This was her the last time in July:

This was her feet in July - one had the IV in it, the other had the pulse ox monitor:

I hope they are able to find out quickly what the problem is and get it resolved. She sure looks adorable in the photo.
