Grand Villa possibilities at 7 months?

Our home resort is Animal Kingdom Villas, but we noticed that getting a grand villa in the summer is quite expensive on points. What is the possibility of getting a Grand Villa at OKW in the 7 month window?

We are trying to plan out our first use of points, and noticed how few points the grand villas are at OKW. If it is too difficult, we can always get a 2bd and a studio for the summer week instead, but figured I would ask the experts.

The number of GV units is limited but there is always a chance. We decided to take a short notice trip with only 2 months notice. The only room available was a GV at SSR. Since there were only two of us, we decided to pass.

We wanted an OKW GV for the third week in August 07. I called on my 7 month booking date (I was planning on booking day by day) but there were none available. I had her look ahead, and sure enough there were a couple available for the last week in August. So the next week I called day by day and got it. I guess the key is to have a little flexibility and be willing to call day to day.

BTW, it was absolutely fantastic! We loved the GV, as did our family who were staying with us. They were very impressed and we had a great time! Hope you get it!

won't count on any Dec, Nov, Oct - but summer it should - how flexibility can you be.

We will be traveling in last week of January with my inlaws, and we were blessed enough by a DISer to rent a ressie, and got a GV at the 8 month mark!!!! YEA!!!!!! We were told by our owner not to count on it at all, but it came through first try, no wait list. So it definitely CAN happen

Everyone wants an OKW GV at 7 months, so there is a lot of competition. And many OKW members will get them before the 7 month time frame even starts. You might get the Fri and Sat nights, but the rest of the week could be very difficult to get.

Deb is right. When we book a GV, we ALWAYS book at exactly 11 months and day by day no matter what time of year it is for.

Yeah, I think this is why hubby wants more points at OKW now.

A month ago we were at one of the AKL GV's for four nights. (Th-M)
We booked at the 7 month window as we own SSR. Didn't even have to do it day-by-day.
So, yes, it is possible. But like it was said, there are only a few of them, so you need to be on your best game when calling.

OKW was the first DVC. When they found out it was a success, they decided to make smaller villas and require more points for them.
