We'd like to reserve a GV at BWV for our vacation in Sept. 05. The only way I have enough points is to use some of our BCV points at also. I was under the impression that the Grand Villas were long gone by the 7 mo window, regardless of the time of year we'd be planning to visit. I recently read a post that indicated the GV's are generally still available at the 7mo window. Really??? That would be great!! Have many of you been able to book an entire week at low point seasons in a GV at 7 months?
Also, can you direct me to some detailed information on the GV, like inside pics, location within the resort, which ones are two-story, etc?

We closed on a resale the beginning of June and were able to get a BWV GV for the end of January, 7.5 months out, so it's possible. I believe there are 5 one-story and 2 two-story GV's, www.allearsnet.com has some great pictures, just click on the Accommodations link and scroll down to find the DVC properties. I know there was a post with room descriptions somewhere, the only thing I remember was room 3xxx was the HA room. I've read where Jan and Sept are the easiet times to get a GV, best of luck!

Will you be staying over a weekend? If so, consider booking the weeknights (Sun - Thur) with your BWV points. Book the weekend nights (Friday and Saturday) nights at the 7 month window with your BCV points. Since weekend nights are more costly, they are often available even after the 7 month window opens.

You might also see if a BWV owner would be willing to "trade reservations" with you. You make a BCV reservation for him/her at the 11 month window, and he/she makes part of the BWV GV reservation for you at the 11 month window. You can settle up any differences with a transfer.

Good luck!

We have been able to book GV's at BWV well within the 7 month window - due to the relatively high point requirements compared to OKW GV's they do not go as fast. Also, I think the addition of GV's at SSR will help availability as well.

CarolMN has good advice on booking the Sun-Thur legs versus the Fri/Sat legs

All the GV's have boardwalk views - I can tell you from personal experience that #5047 is a one storey - occupies the top floor in the section above the Green Door general store and was a magnificent DVC experience

Good luck

thanks

I currently have a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom at BCV booked for my trip end of April beginning of May that I would like to switch to a Boardwalk Grand Villa at the 7 month mark. Currently there is only 1 available so I am a bit worried. My parents really want to try the Grand Villa. I know the good news is that the people who own at BWV have probably already made thier reserations, but with only 1 left, the odds are not that great!

As far as location, etc., there are 2 two story and 5 single story GVs at BWV - all BoardWalk view. The two story are on the top two floors of the yellow "Thimbles & Threads" building below the BoardWalk sign. Directly below the two story GVs are two single story GVs with balconies that extend the entire length of the unit.

The remaining three GVs are the three top floors above the "Screen Door" building at the corner by the Village Green area. The one on the third floor is handicap accessible, and used to be (though may no longer be) a smoking unit.

Good luck!

Are the 1 story and the 2 story villas at BWV pretty much the same size just with the 2 bedrooms upstairs instead of off to the side? I vistied the SSR Grand Villa while I was there last month, it was a 2 story one. Is the 2 story BWV Grand Villa just like that?
