I took this last week at the Contemporary.

That two story space on the top floor looks an awful lot like a Grand Villa. That would be awesome to have a two story ground villa on the top floor facing the MK. You could sit in your living room and watch the fireworks. It also coordinates with these floor plans I have seen.

That would be so amazing! But I'll bet the points for that would make you go :scared1: !

That platform looks much like the ones on the top of the main building. Didn't I read somewhere that there's supposed to be a restaurant up there? If that's the case, then having a platform (or platforms) makes sense. It also looks like the top floor is all Grand Villas.

I'm so excited after seeing that picture! They do indeed look like GV's, your picture is the best that I have seen so far. I hope I can afford enough points to stay there at least once. I love all the glass, its going to be great :cool1:

And yes, I believe the tree signifies the building is topped. I can't wait to see models!!!

:cloud9: These Grand Villas are going to be amazing. :cloud9: Thanks for the new picture & re-posting the plans. It's hard to argue that it's not DVC after seeing this. Waiting for the official announcement... :surfweb:

What is the platform on top? Fireworks viewing area?

Not sure. It could be. It should be noted that there are actually 2 of these platforms, 1 on each side at the top. They could be some sort of lounge as well. Who knows. Only time will tell, or perhaps it will be outlined in the official announcement.

popcorn::

Man that looks awsome. I wish they would just go ahead and anncounce it. I will not be going until may 2010 and i am hoping by then i can book at 7 mo window instead of actually buying there . DW does not care where in the building we are booked just as long as we are in the building by then we will have enough points saved to pretty much stay at whatever level.

To the person who asked...

Yes, they've topped out.

It's a long standing tradition in the construction industry...once you place the last piece of steel in the highest part of the roof. They do a "topping out" ceremony to celebrate the building reaching it's highest point of elevation. The tree symbolizes reaching the pinnacle of construction.

the originally plans called for GV on the top 2 floors - that is what it looks like to me - and all around the resort - not just the MK view.

also the originally (hoping DVC changed it) - did NOT call for any viewing of the fireworks from the top. not even a way to get to the top.

so only the GV gets the great view.:sad1: (and not very fair)

however I did not see the plans - so hoping this is a fireworks viewing for us.

but remember at BWV we were surpose to get a room to view the fireworks in and Disney took it back to use for parties.

so even if this is there - don't plan on using it without paying big bucks.

Could very well be for a restaurant. The following refers to a license application for a permanent food service kitchen.

These just look like an extension of the emergency stairs to me. Probably to allow emergency access to the roof. They appear to be too small for a restaurant. That permit could be for the pool bar.

Here's a few more pics of the construction.

And another of the grand villas.

I assume so. I've never seen a tree top off a building, I've only seen flags topping them off.

Yup, flags are the other thing you see a lot. Up here in CT, it's about 50/50. In NY, it's mostly flags. Further north (MA, VT, ME, NH), it's mostly trees.

Out here in the Southwest, I've only seen flags. I like the tree idea, though. Pretty cool.

Someone posted pictures of the building from Bay Lake side. From that side on the roof there was an elevated rounded structure. Definately not more villas but big enough for a lounge... Don't know what it would look like on the MK side.

I'll try to find a pic that I can post or link.

I hope they have two price structure for the GV's. MK View and CR view.

Stairs, and possibly the elevator mechanics as well. If you follow the "platform" towards the ground, it is situated directly above a concrete shaft. That's likely both the elevator shaft and the stairwell.

Look closely at the quarter round bump to the left of the concrete shaft. These are likely the elevator lobbies on each floor.
