GRAND OPENING - GRAND CLOSING (Florida)

..

Do you realize most cases are contracted at home from family members?

Of course once someone you live with or are in very close contact with gets the virus, you're more likely to catch it from them- in general. But the first one that got sick got it from somewhere other than family. I've read many heartbreaking stories of siblings and spouses losing their lives.

They lived in Broward county and visited Orlando (early June?). Some of the family visited Universal. Their mother doesn't know where or how they contracted the virus but thinks maybe at Walmart. They both had multiple underlying health conditions.

Very sad. Condolence to their loved ones.

I appreciate businesses here who publicly announce they have had employees test positive or they've been notified of positive exposure. The transparency and openness is refreshing.

We had one positive test. We publicly posted it online and blasted all social media channels. Any customer that we know was in the location because they did a transaction was both called and emailed. It is the right thing to do.

We closed the location for 3 days to deep clean and anyone that worked that location is staying home for 14 days.

Frankly we prefer no customers come in. 100% of our business can be done not in our physical locations. Since March we have practically begged our customers to stay home to transact with us, it is for their health and our employees that still have to go in. The less physical location traffic we have the better.

Exactly. The brother, who acquired symptoms first, did not go to any theme parks. The sister, who started showing symptoms days after her brother passed, did go to theme parks, but most likely got it from her brother who she lived with and was in close contact with.

Because it fits the narrative of the horrible companies that are open and the irresponsible people that are daring to do more than hunker down inside their houses.
Some of us take risks in an effort to take care of ourselves AND others. Although it doesn't mean we are reckless.

Not sure if my sarcasm came across, but I agree with you. I was more talking about how some people jump on re-posting things like this because because it fits the narrative they want to promote.
I know..👍🏼

Totally different workfield. Today I went to the hair dresser, last time I went was about 12 weeks ago exactly the day before the lockdown started. So we talk about the lockdown and how it is for people in contact professions. I asked her if there were special arrangements to get tested easier (without symptoms) for hair dressers. As they do have some arrangements for people working in health care and teachers in the Netherlands. So to have some arrangement for contact professions seemed obvious. But she told me, she didn't get tested, as she comes into contact with so many people and then she could keep going for tests constantly. She didn't have symptoms so she just assumed it would be okay. Testing her would be BS, in her own words.

And I really thought: What is wrong with you? You know you get into contact with a lot of people!
She also told me that before the lockdown really started and there was a choice to work yes or no, she stayed at home, because she didn't wanted to get sick.
(And I was annoyed that she didn't ask me any questions whether or not I have symptoms, which she is supposed to do)
Let's say, I am very happy with how my hair turned out, but also very happy that I don't have to go back for the next 2 months.

So, I am assuming, many people will go to work with or without symptoms and not getting tested because they come into contact with too many people.
My niece is a hair dresser and also works at a hospital. She had never been tested. My sister is a hospital nurse. She has only had an antibody test. It was negative.

We have routine testing for some healthcare professionals.

“Maybe the way to counter it now is to say, actually, not only is it a good thing for young people to go out there and become immune, but that is almost their duty.”

Sound like a proponent of the infection parties. No thanks, I’ll pass.

We’re already seeing what happens here when we put a bunch of kids together for an extended period of time. I wonder how many at risk people those 2 students have come in contact with not even realizing they were infected.

Tried, tested and failed in Florida. Young people infect old people.

Look at it from a more positive standpoint. There are so many infections in the younger age group, perhaps we will see some benefits of herd immunity in the coming weeks/months.

There is no positive standpoint in regard to infection parties. Are you actually serious???? People die from doing this and any benefit seems to be irrelevant to me. This is the theory of let the old and compromised die so we can get on with our lives.

Honest question: If this is the case why don’t you just simply shut the doors and go completely to a on-line/remote model of service?

There is no real need for anybody to ever come to our offices as our transactions can all take place by phone/e-mail or at other locations and our services are delivered in the field. Although our operations have never shut down (we are an essential service) we have not allowed one single non-employee of any kind inside our building since March 31.

I’m not saying coronavirus parties are a good thing not do I endorse having them. What I am saying is that there is a large amount of youth that have/had been infected and perhaps that will contribute to herd immunity. We will see in the coming months.

Unfortunately not all of us have the luxury of staying inside 24/7. Some of us have jobs that require interaction with the public.

I can't imagine being pleased to see so many people getting infected and spreading the disease with the deaths that would cause.

Stopping them from getting infected at all seems preferable to me. That's like saying there's a bright side to being dead- you don't have to pay taxes anymore. Fewer young people die, but they infect others who die at a much higher rate and they can face life long disabilities. Stopping them from getting infected at all seems preferable to me. That's like saying there's a bright side to being dead- you don't have to pay taxes anymore. So no, there is no bright side.

Essential workers and their issue has nothing to do with this point.
