We're travelling with another family for the first time - and it just occured to me that because we are 8 all together (all over 3) that we are officially a "grand gathering".

Are there any benefits to being a grand gathering? Is it worth it for us to call in and have our reservations transferred to the grand gathering desk???

TIA!!!

This link from All Ears may be useful http://allears.net/pl/magath.htm

It doesn't appear to offer any freebies...but they seem to help "gather" the group if you wish to participate in events ... like taking a boat out to watch fireworks etc.

Hope it helps.

One of the things we like best about being a Grand Gathering is that they group our hotel rooms together.

We traveled with another family last year. We wanted to stay at different resorts and planned to meet up just for dinner (as it turned out we did spend more time in the parks together than we though - which was a good thing).

The only thing that the grand gathering title gave us, was the ability to (easily) make dinner reservations for a large group.

We have a Grand Gathering scheduled for December. I have booked the breakfast at Tony's in the MK and the Evening Safari at AK. These events are for Grand Gathering groups only, and you can book them 180 days out.

My group 5 adults & 4 kids is going in late Aug. and we are signed up for the IllumiNations dessert thing and the Safari. From what I have learned there is no other benefit (exc. getting rooms together). I was told by a CM that "[resorts] take special requests from GG guests very seriously" but that was never affirmed by any other CMs.

One benefit is the accomodation of a larger group without splitting you into two tables. We LOVED the fireworks cruise. Of course, you don't have to be a grand gathering to enjoy that.

Good luck.

thanks for the link. We are going as a grand gathering too and I have no idea what the perks are. My brother set everything up. We had a disney day and I was hoping to find out all the information but we were too busy trying to figure out where we want to eat. I am trying really hard not to stress about this trip but I can't help it.

I didn't know that you can book GG experiences 180 days out! Do you know what days are they offering the Tony's Breakfast? I am planning a GG for Jan 2010 and would love to book this!
