Not sure where to post this, but can anyone tell me about them. I might be changing our December trip to a Grand Gathering, and want to know what I am getting myself into.

Suzanne princess:

A Grand Gathering is no big deal really. You get a special Grand Gathering number along with your reservation number that you can use when booking Grand Gathering special events.

It allows you to call the Grand Gathering phone number and they can help with most of your reservations. It also helps when making the reservations because if you have a Grand Gathering, they work harder to make sure that the rooms are as close to each other as possible.

If you get a Grand Gathering number and do nothing with it, it's no problem either. It just gives you the capability of attending a Grand Gathering event only open to those with a Grand Gathering (of course you have to pay for it). And helps to get rooms close together. Other than that, I haven't used it for anything else.

Good luck!!

As the PP stated, your GG# allows you access (for an additional fee) to select events (an International Dinner & Illuminations Desert Reception at Epcot for example. It helps the room assigners keep your group together. And, if you are booking TS meals, be sure to use your GG# - again, it helps to keep your group together (at one table) or at least close to each other at nearby tables.

Grand Gatherings are as much or as little as you make of them ... some groups opt to get personalized shirts, etc. (can buy through Disney or create your own). How much "stuff" your group wants to do together will determine how much work organizing your GG will be - juggling a bunch of different opinions/wants/needs can always be a challenge.

Thank you both for this info. This is what I gathered from what I have read, I had just hoped maybe it was more. I will probably be doing most of the planning, so everybody will have to go my way or no way.

Will they book ADR's for us or will I do that?

You're welcome ... you still have to book your own ADRs ... but I think you can do this through the GG office (at least we did for the Spirit of Aloha Show). For reguar TS, I booked through regular Disney Dining, but made sure that my GG number was on each ressie ...

Okay, I do prefer to book my own ADR's.
