Has anyone gone on the Safari & Celebration Dinner? Anyone advice for party of 14-ages 2-60

Hi and welcome to the DIS Two years ago when I planned our GG I read several positive reviews about both of those events. We scheduled the fireworks cruise but it was cancelled due to lightening Our group ranged in age from 4 to 65+. We knew that with our group it would be way too difficult to stay together all the time. I encouraged every family to order a PassPorter and then we met a couple of times to go over itineraries for each family. We planned a couple of meals together and watched Fantasmic together. We also met in smaller family groups for meals, parades, Wishes and Illuminations. Overall, it was an awesome experience; I just wish we could do it again soon

We did the International diner and Illumination, it was meals (buffet style) from different places... really good, and after diner, they bring you to a reserve place for desert (to die for) and a great view of Illuminations... there were still little glitz to work out but that was in Dec 04, so I'm sure it's perfect by now... We also did Good Morning gathering at Tony's town square, it was very good, and the service was excellent, it was a bit long, but after breakfast, each table were brought out to have a private time with Mickey and then you walk out of the special room just to encounter Cinderella, Wow... Our final Gathering was Magic fireworks, we had some cookies and desert served outside of Comtemporary while waiting for our guides, we saw Captain hook and Smee, for pictures, then we went on our Pontoons, to watch the fireworks, it was ok, when we came back to the docks, Peter Pan was waiting for autographs and pictures, a cool way to finish a day in the parks.

does anyone know what hotels are included to count for a magical gathering?? There are 12 of us going, but we are staying at a moderate. I was curious if you had to stay at a deluxe resort to qualify. We would like to do the fireworks cruise....

We are staying at a moderate resort and we are a magical gathering. A magical gathering just consists of 8 or more people staying at a Disney resort.
