My daughter will turn 21 in 2015 ( I know a way off) she asked me if I would take her to wdw for her birthday so she can drink around the world. She has always dreamed of staying at grand Floridian but its next been in my budget, how far in advance can I book so I can make payments so I can surprise her. Tia

hopefully by then the DVC part will be open - so you might try renting a reservation

to answer your question - think it is 2 years.

also if her birthday is late Sept to early Nov - might go with an Epcot resort - for the food/wine festavial

Unfortunately its January 31st, I was originally thinking boardwalk due to the back entrance but I know how she would love to stay at GF.

You can always hope for a discount, too

On these boards I learned that I can save 5% by using gift cards purchased at Target. It's saving us about $300 or so on the vacation.

You can book room only via phone 499 days out. You will have to pay a 1 night deposit. Then you can call and make payments up until you check in.

As the pp said, you can book room only 499 days out by calling. You will be quoted the highest rate for that resort/room type, which will automatically be adjusted once the 2015 rates come out. Not sure if you would book room only or a package, but if you book room only now and switch to a package later, the room only would have to cancelled/refunded, and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit as money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. To book a package (or to book online), you would have to wait until the 2015 rates are released, which should be sometime between June-August 2014. Happy planning .

That's what I was going to say.
If you're content with a room only, then go ahead and book now, if you're planning on a package eventually, then you probably should wait.
If you're ok with having the money tied up, you could always buy Disney Gift Cards over time and apply them to your reservation later.
