We checked into BLT today and were told that this morning it was announced that the resort monorails will be shut down every day from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm until further notice. Loosely kept unconfirmed rumor that GFV getting its own monorail stop....

Y'all just bought into GFV? Did you get a specific week? My parents were just on the DVC member cruise last week and said that GFV owners will be able to reserve the same week each year
I can say, as a former monorail pilot, that if there's any heavy construction vehicles moving in/around the monorail beam, they're likely to shut down the service for safety reasons. So hi/lows, cranes, dump trucks, backhoes - anything like that moving around in the area could cause a stoppage. I too find it highly unlikely that they'd add a GFV station; it doesn't make sense.
Is this all because doing work on the roof over the path is in too close a proximity to the monorail? .
I believe post 18 is pretty definitive on the reason for the shutdown. Nothing at all to do with VGF construction.
In that case why isn't the express loop shutdown as we'll?
I'm pretty sure the express loop just goes from T&TC through CR to MK - it doesn't go all the way around the resort loop does it?
If the work is being done 'inside the loop' & no construction vehicles will be moving under the beam/to the other side, there wouldn't necessarily be a need to shut it (the express/exterior beam) down. They can hold traffic if things need to move under the beam. They did shut down both sides when the GF monorail platform was being built, IIRC. They then ran shuttles to/from MK strictly through the Contemporary. (Poly-MK on the resort side; TTC-MK on the express)
