Grand Floridian v Poly

We love the Poly, but we are trying the GF for the first time in September. I will miss the Poly but we are looking forward to a new experience.

Is she a girly girl? She may like the Floridan.

However, I would personally pick the Poly. I love the resort grounds, the walk to the rooms are gorgeous. I can't imagine any 12 year old not liking the lit up torches at night or the Lilo and Stitch feel. They used to have Hawaiian entertainment in the evening, not sure if they still do, but it is awesome!

They are both great, so that can be a difficult choice. Have her check out the resorts.

The Poly is our favorite, but the GF runs a very close second. Both have beautiful atmospheres, nice pools, and great dining options. With that said, I don't think you can go wrong with either one as they are both awesome resorts. I agree with the others that a split is a good idea if you are having a hard time choosing, but if that isn't an option, I'd go with the one that theme/decor appeals to you the most and visit the other. Good luck :).

Both are great. No bad choices there. At GF they have a Princess parade/dance mid day in the lobby with Cinderella & Prince.

Transportation is much better at Poly- Poly is walking distance to TTC, so getting to epcot is easy. GF isn't bad, but you have to take the monorail to the TTC which could be packed since it is a later stop than Poly and the Contemporary.

Rooms - don't get me wrong here, both are amazing. I feel that the Poly has a better theme, so I say Poly.

I believe this is mostly about personal preferences.

I'm around your daughter's age, but I think that this depends on her and your family's interests.

Thank you x

We've stayed at both multiple times and I really like them both. GF has a fun but elegant feeling to it, while Poly feels very tropical and laid-back. I would pick by whichever theming appeals to you more, since they both have great dining, nice pools, etc.

We really like both. DH and I probably prefer the Poly, but DD (10) prefers the GF. She has considered GF Cinderella's hotel, since she was little because 1900 Park Fare has the Cinderella character meal there and the hotel looks fancy. She loves music so she really enjoys the band in the lobby in the evenings when we walk through and also the piano player. DH and I prefer the Poly because it has better transportation. You can walk to the TTC and take the express monorail to either EPCOT or MK. Poly often shares buses with GF and they stop at the Poly first so it can be easier to get a seat if you are staying at the Poly. GF it often seems like it takes forever to get a bus anywhere. I think sometimes they fill up at the Poly and don't even come through GF. They are both great places though. If you personally don't have a preference, then I would show them both to her and let her pick. One other thing- if you are going during the Holiday season, then I would hands down pick the GF. It is absolutely beautiful during the Holiday season.

For years and years the poly was our favorite. We tried the gf when the construction got too much at the poly for us. We've now decided we prefer the gf. So I vote for that.

I agree with PP's go with whichever theme you think you'd prefer or do a split stay. We have stayed at both, and the GF is our favorite resort. Stayed at GF this past December with my 8yo daughter, and she loved it. We loved the Poly too, and would stay there again in a heartbeat, one thing I did not like there was no balcony, and I thought the room at the GF felt bigger. But really you can't go wrong with either one.

I would choose the Poly.

I love the proximity to the TTC for the Epcot monorail.

And I love the fact that it transports you to a different place, far from the frenetic activity of the parks.

Just let her pick. Easy Peasy. Split Stays mean packing and moving. Not my idea of a good time on vacation and both properties are excellent choices. The other nice thing is they are so close to each other you can visit the other property any time. Transportation is as good as it gets on Disney Property from either of these resorts.
