I spoke with a cast member, who told me 3 years ago about BLT, that Grand Floridian will be the next DVC. One of the buildings will be converted first as new construction is being completed. The points per night will be higher, but the cost per point will be similar to other DVC locations. This is how Disney will charge for different classes of lodging. "Better" resorts will cost more points per night not higher cost per points.

Does your source say when?

I agree...I would love a Polynesian and/or GF DVC.

I wonder how far it would be to walk to the MK if they finished the walkway (put in a bridge over that canal) from the GF? Would the CR still be closer?

Build it at GF and I will be buying. This is my FAVORITE resort and would love this. Just think DH could be staying at his BLT and DD and I could wave to him from GFV. :lovestruc

As much as we would LOVE that. I wonder about a topic going around on another thread. IF that happens :goodvibes , how will Disney handle increased crowds on the monorail? Can they add more trains on the track (meaning more frequently)? At certain times you have to wait for the next monorail already...much less adding two DVCs to the loop!

GF would turn my head, not interested in BLT. Things are getting complicated! I was totally happy with my 250 BWV points, now I'm thinking about GCV. I don't need more total points, what I'm thinking is selling my 250 BWV and buying a few at different resorts so I could go 2 or 3 times a year staying at different places. BWV, GF & GCV each year would be ideal! If we only knew how hard these places would be at 7 months.

I do hope that's true--I love the GF even though we haven't stayed there yet ;). Fortunately by the time they would be ready to sell it we'll have the money to add on there :goodvibes.

Well, since Disney would simply be replacing one type of guest with a vacation club guest, would monorail traffic increase that significantly?
And surely travel times for each guest would be staggered so that not everyone would be trying to fill the trains at one time. Plus, not all DVC guests will automatically head to the Magic Kingdom; some will still be taking buses to AK, DTD, the Studios, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and Epcot.

Even if they add Villas to both the Grand Californian and the Polynesian, I can't imagine the monorail being crowded anymore than the Express monorail. I've been on the resort monorail and seen only 5 or 6 people per train section while the Express monorail was standing room only.

But the Grand Californian is going to require a LONG extension of the monorail. MF will be high!:rotfl2:

BLT is nice, and eventually we will stay there, but prob won't buy, BUT GF is AWESOME (IMHO)...IF (big) Disney does a DVC at GF we will buy in there. But the economy is going have to turn around for Disney to keep adding DVC resorts. Most ppl can hang on for a couple years and still vacation but eventually the economy catch's up to all of us and the cutting back starts. No diffrent for Disney.

All hypothetical, of course but I believe the OP said covert an existing building while construction was going on. I took that to mean new construction as well. So, that with BLT adds many new people to the monorail loop. Depending on the time of day and year, the resorts monorail can already be crowded. Also, folks going to EP WILL also be using that monorail. Oh, well.. we'll see. As I said, this is all hypothetical....WOULD love at GF DVC though! :thumbsup2

Does your source mention the rumors that im now seeing on All Star villas? i saw it in another thread on this website

I believe that was meant as a joke, however there has been some muted discussions of completing that section into family suites like at one of the other value resorts.
