Grand Floridian Standard View

So excited! We finally got a reservation at the grand Floridian standard view. This has been my dream resort to stay. Any recommendations on room location would be appreciated!

Is there a location that you can see the monorail and fireworks?

I was in room 1315, a standard view studio last May as part of my first DVC trip My room overlooked the front portico, the monorail, the wedding pavilion and the Poly! Because it was an end room, I also overlooked the 7 Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake Tower

Great pictures! Could you see fireworks also?

The XX15 rooms are our favorites! No fireworks though (you are looking toward the wedding pavilion and the Poly is beyond that).

We were in a 1br std - 1427. It had monorail and fireworks views - and generally just spectacular views.

Which size room are you in and for how many nights?

FWIW, the only request we made was for "high floor".

We are in a standard studio for 4 nights

Ok so the only studio that is problematic is 1221 (google it, it's bad). But I think they know that, so they tend to give it to people who are staying for shorter stays. We were in 1421 some time back, only 2 floors up from the Bad View Studio, and the view was lovely - monorail with the sun setting in the background.

The only standard studios that will have FW views are xx05, xx11 and xx29.

I would just ask for high floor, and if they give you 1221, ask if you can wait for another room or, like Kat, switch the next day if they say it's the only thing available that night. 1221 is on the 2nd floor, so you have a decent chance of avoiding it if you ask for high floor. But again, the building is so small that I don't think it helps to ask for particular room numbers. Last time we were in a studio we asked for high floor and ended up on the ground floor. It actually turned out well - we were very close to the door to/from the pool, it was very quiet, and I did appreciate not having to wait for the elevators.

I think it’s too early for many to have developed strong opinions on location requests. At least the construction next door in Boca Chica is done now, so no need to avoid that end of BPK’s building. My only request for my visit next month is for a villa w/ a balcony since a few villas don’t have them.
