Grand Floridian shouldn’t allow non hotel guests

Even if that meant a dramatic reduction in holiday decorations?

By extension Should the lobby, excluding monorail access, be limited to guests staying in the main building? Why should club level guests be subjected to the "unwashed" DVC group?
That’s ludicrous

Yes gf is only decorated because of the unpaid visitors, Disney will shut down if unpaid visitors stop going and gf will be unadorned

Do you really think gingerbread house, and associated sales, can operate if the GF access is limited to resort guests?

In all seriousness, that is good advice.
I posted this in a different thread, but we did a split stay between BCV and VGF this past April during a very low crowd time. People always talk about how chaotic Stormalong Bay is, but it was not crowded at all and super easy to find chairs in the afternoon. VGF’s pool with a slide was always packed and very difficult to find even one chair. Part of this may be the chair set up stinks at VGFs main pool and the pool is just smaller than Beach Club’s, but part of me also wonders if the wrist bands and tight control over Stormalong Bay helped. I’m pretty sure we didn’t even need to use our magic bands to get into the pool at VGF.

I know you’re a big West Coast DVC fan, and I appreciate that VGC and VDH both require wristbands and check reservations to use the pool. I think Poly and VGF need to start doing the same. Social media makes it way too easy for little “tips and tricks” to be shared, and it doesn’t take that many non-guest families to make the pools feel more crowded.

Put an ‘As Seen on TV’ Walmart kiosk on the train platform to preoccupy the unwashed and the lobby problem is solved and lots of open seats on the resort loop …

If GF and Poly get wristbands I want them over at AKL and BWV too …. Don’t pass your unwashed non payers off to my savanna and boards …

Haha there were rumors on these boards of non-guest locals have 4th of July gatherings at AKL’s pools. I’ve never stayed at AKL, but I’m all for wrist banding all DVC pools for the more popular pool times!

Yes, you have to get a wrist band to get into the pool area at GC and Aulani…. kind of crazy they don’t do that at all of the WDW Deluxe resorts.

I don’t think the finger sandwichers want just their pool wristbanded they want a total ban on unwashed on the entire property because y’all diminish the experience and smell up their lobby to the point not even the gingerbread aroma can mask it anymore

Idk even the finger sandwich eaters have to use the toilet at some point … don’t let them fool you
They can use their ‘private thrones’ in their rooms

I'm for wrist banding all the pools, not just DVC pools.
Seems like a lot of work and expense To keep the folks that swim amongst gargantuan foosball players from invading the pool in the land of the giant Mickey Mouse telephones

I’m not sure what everyone else wants, but as a VGF owner, I definitely wouldn’t stay there over the Christmas season based on what I’ve read here. It’s not the crowds in the lobby that would bug me (I’m used to that almost year round at the Grand Californian), but the long waits for busses to the non-MK theme parks and long quick service waits. Maybe I would reconsider once the walking path to Poly opens again, and I could walk to their restaurants and transportation haha.

I don’t buy that.

Disney has a decoration budget for each resort. They know the decorations are part of the draw for paid resort guests

I don’t think bake sales keep the lights on
Did the GF decorating budget increase because of the gingerbread aficionados or did the gingerbread aficionados increase because of the decorating budget?

How do non ginger resorts pay for their decorations?

Ak has a pretty awesome setup and tree. They don’t have a gingerbread bake sale to fund it

The other resorts aren’t selling the gingerbread products that are sold at the gingerbread house.

No way Disney wants to lose that revenue from the sales and it’s built specifically for that purchase.

It’s not done as just a decoration…it’s a mini pop up store…which is why all the other resorts with gingerbread structures are smaller and have much smaller sales counters.

The money it makes goes far beyond offsetting the holiday decorations….those are funded in the same way they are at other resorts.

It’s been a staple for 25 years at GF…hopefully Disney continues to value that location as much as some of us who stay there during the holidays do.
