Grand Floridian Private Dining - Fireworks Dinner with DH...!

I just had my private dinner in the Alcove a couple of weeks ago. I had booked it before they stopped doing that area. Has anyone confirmed with someone at GF that they are no longer doing that section? Our butler did not mention it at all and told us that he hopes that next time we have a private dinner we ask for him.

Our dinner was amazing by the way. It was kind of funny that during the fireworks this woman comes up right behind me and starts talking to me! She was asking me what we were doing and wondering if we just got married. She informed us that she had just gotten married the day before and that her husband was up in the room taking a nap. Our butler came over to shoo her away when she was asking us how to set up a dinner like that. Some people. :confused3 Clearly when you are having the dinner in that area it is very obvious that there is something private going on.

I am hoping for some recent info. OP, you have the sweetest dh! Anyway, I hope someone is still subscribed to this thread ;) and just might have some new information or recent reviews to share!

Thanks!!

I'm subscribing to this thread. I want to plan something special for DH & I when we go for our 15th anniversary this fall. I made 2 pages of notes before I got to the end & saw they're not doing this anymore. What a bummer! I hope we get some news soon that they've resumed! I was just planning on dinner at Narcoossee's while the children were in the Neverland Club, but private dining sounds so much more romantic!!

I just finished reading this thread. My son is going to propose to his girlfriend next month at DW. I thought that this would be a great way to propose. I hope that the powers to be will decide to start doing this again. How romantic, what a thoughtful guy you married.

How absolutely perfect would that be!!! Such a wonderful place for a proposal!

And thank you - he is pretty special and I do consider myself lucky to have him (most days! :rotfl: ) I'm thinking about planning something for him on our next trip and seeing this thread active again makes me think this might be a good idea...

Have you ever considered having a diver hold up a sign at the Coral Reef and/or having a personalized menu made up. It's a really fun/romantic/memorable experience!

:thumbsup2

You can do pretty much whatever and wherever you want. The most fun idea our butler told us about was renting a car in the monorail for a private dinner...can you imagine??? :rotfl: He said they seal off the car and the monorail keeps running and picking people up, dropping them off, etc. as you are served and eat your dinner. He said the looks the diners get from people leaving and arriving at the parks were priceless. :p

Katieelder writes,"I actually remember reading a trip report somewhere else several years ago from (probably) the first person to experience this... she kept posting that she has 'something special' arranged, but would not say anything more until after they got home."

I remember the monorail meal very well. We were acquainted with the family in question and we saw the pictures. It was done several years ago - perhaps 5 or 6 and the family were staying at the Grand in the main building concierge. At the time the Grand Concierge was the contact for planning the event. It was not an offering so to speak, but an event that the guest had the idea for and was able to have carried out.

Does any one have pictures of the dinner for two on the balcony.
I am going to disney and have already made my reservation for the dinner for two on the balcony with the butler service.

But they will not show me photos of the views from the balcony.
Even though i am sure it is a great view i want to be certain.
She is kind of shy so I am planning on proposing on the balcony durring the fireworks. So i really want that night to be perfect in every way that i can make it.

Any other suggestions would be greatly apprecited.

Where did you find info. for this? I looked at Dining Options at GF, and it was not listed as an option.

They say you can see the castle, the illuminations show and the wishes show as well from the balcony.
