Grand Floridian Orchestra News?

Older thread, but has anyone heard word on whether or not the Orchestra removal is indeed permanent? We were sure hoping it comes back for the 50th.

It's a shame. I really enjoyed them. I like the Enchanted Rose lounge as well but really enjoyed cocktails at Mizner's when the band was playing. Was something really special that was just at the Grand. Would love to see them brought back but agree not sure where they'd put them.

It just wasn’t the same when they moved them to the ground floor for a short time. But not sure where else they could put them.

1. GONE - GONE - GONE.
2. There are some GF Cast Members who say it will return, but no one can say where or when.
3. No space exists for the music, as the mezzanine is filled with money-making space.
4. The lobby-front does not allow enough room to "make music", and the sound is terrible.

5. Execs still believe attendance will not suffer, regardless of the economies.
6. Alas, they are (at the moment) correct.
7. Money is more of a concern than Guest Experience.

. . . WDW will have to change.

That’s disheartening. I own a DVC contract at the grand and one of the reasons was the orchestra. Added so much atmosphere. Typical Bob Cheaptek move, reduce the experience, maximize profit.

I will be slower to go, and probably book non-holidays or POFQ.

earlier this eve I jumped on Disney’s site to get an idea on pricing for a deluxe or a mod. The rates are INsane. It’s truly sad and maddening.. pure GREED! I just can’t buy into it.

We will not be there for quite a while, but I wish someone on site would ask the GF General Manager to explain their thinking. Was the orchestra really that expensive? Was it something the guests wanted removed? I doubt it. I’d really like to hear this management team explain.

Yeah, it really is great when someone is there. We had dinner at Citrico's the other night and walked out to him playing. Even my kids wanted to stop and listen for a couple of songs.

we walked around and sat for a bit before our dinner at Citricos last week too. Very nice.

On a positive note, the piano player in the lobby is fantastic.

1. Yes, the pianist is good.
2. They ALWAYS had top-flight pianists in the GF lobby.
3. But, I miss the orchestra that plays after the pianist.

Anyone hear anything new about the orchestra? Keeping my fingers crossed that Cheapek decides to bring it back.
