We plan on taking a 4 day trip next April 09. It will be me, DH, DS (then 6), DS4, DM, DMIL, DFIL, and possibly my sister.

I would love to take my mother to Grand Floridian one day when I can afford it. She loves the way this hotel looks. So I thought maybe a little preview can get me and my sister pumped up to take her one day.

So which restaurant do you think would be best? I thought of doing 1900 Park Fare so we could take everyone, but it seemed to get mixed reviews when I looked on allears. We would like to take everyone, if possible, including the boys, so it can't be V&A and it shouldn't be anything TOO fancy, etc.

Thanks in advance!

we did 1900 for breakfast one morning...the food was great, and we booked for late in the am, so it worked as a great brunch, and there was more time with the characters, because not as many people were there. i must admit, we booked because of mary poppins, but my dh's only request for every vacation is a breakfast buffet.

Awesome picture- thank you!

A late breakfast is a good idea- especially for our last morning.

By the way, what time were your reservations so I have a point of reference?

Thanks again! I meant to post this in restaurants, but I figure this can go either way.

I love narcooses myself. Its a bit upscale, but still fairly casual. MMMMM lobster.

You could always book the boys into a pirate cruise and try to get into a Tea at the Grand Floridian(I am not sure if they happen at the same time? But check it out.) That tea screams GF to me.
Here's the menu

But in checking looks like the Pirate cruise is at 9:15 and the tea starts at 2. I say let the girls have a girly tea while the boys and men head over to the Magic Kingdom for some rides.

I believe our ressie was at 10.30. The food was still very fresh, and I highly recommend the make your own omelet with the fresh mickey waffles. I remember pooh bear and tigger were there, but not sure who else. also, if you're not on the ddp, this is a much cheaper way to enjoy the hotel than doing the dinner buffet. we loved walking around the grand floridian. I also booked my dd6 for the tea party with alice in wonderland while my dh and dd11 went on the water boats and I relaxed in the lobby looking at all the christmas decorations and having a cup of coffee. I loved this hotel, and some day when we are not traveling with family, I want to do a split stay between the GF and Beachclub...oh, one can always dream :cloud9:

Take everyone to the Afternoon Tea, it was amazing, the review and lots of pics are on the link in my signature

i agree - take her to the afternoon tea, maybe followed by narcoosees for dinner (crabcakes, lobster, almond crusted cheesecake) or the grand floridian cafe (crabcakes, prime rib, chocolate fondue) - stroll the grounds, sit in the beautiful lobby, listen to the music - total immersion!

she'd love it!

Which do you think is more young-child-friendly if we need to bring the kids? (not sure if I can convince DH and father-in-law to watch the kids while we go alone)

Thank you everyone for your posts! They are all very, very helpful!
