Has anyone stayed at the GF Honeymoon Suite? I would love to hear any comments about it including the view and if you thought it was worth the money you spend.

Be sure to visit the GF thread on this board...several of us have stayed in the suites.

I stayed in the turret HM suite in '98 and it was glorious! We were on the 4th floor, which is where the concierge food offerings were located. We just hopped out of bed and ran to get food every morning. Wonderful!

The room was amazing...it was octagonal with windows going around more than halfway. There was a regular tub for two, two sink vanity and a large walk-in closet. In the main room there was a wet bar, a king size bed, a couch with coffee table and table and desk. Very roomie. My view (no balcony) was of 7-Seas Lagoon and MK (I could see Cindy's Castle), but not all of the turret rooms have that view. Some face the Wedding Pavillion & Monorail.

They also have HM suites that are just large rooms with a balcony & hot tub. At the time, my ex had the choice of which room he wanted and he chose the turret. I suppose if you book early enough you can do that too.

We paid about $600 a night, no discounts (even AP). If you have the money, it's worth it. But if staying there means you have to eat counter service all week, I say get a regular room. HTH!

We stayed in the honeymoon room with a balcony. These rooms are out of the and on a private level called Clarendon. Ours had a view of the Castle - it was above Gasparilla's. I wasn't crazy about looking out over people eating hot dogs. The tub is just a tub with jets, not a jacuzzi by any means. We weren't crazy about the room; for less money we can get a deluxe concierge room at the BWI, which is much bigger. If I were going to book one of the honeymoon rooms at the GF, it would be the turret style, but I'd hate not having a balcony. They are beautiful and spacious, though.

Thanks for the insight. Money isn't a problem but it seems that you got a great deal. Right now for a Honeymoon Concierge Room we are paying $573 per night. Hopefully a discount comes out but if it doesn't that is okay. I have heard that the big Honeymoon Rooms have a view of Cinderella's Castle.

That is very interesting about the Concierge Level Room. So do you think I would be better off just getting a Lagoon View Room? I really want a balcony to sit on in the morning and drink coffee. Or maybe I shouldn't ask for the Honeymoon Room and just get a regular concierge room. We stayed at BWV in March and I wanted to try the Grand Floridian because welllll it looks so grand! :rotfl:

The GF also has Deluxe Concierge rooms. None of the rooms has a Cinderella's Castle view, but they are more spacious. Only four(?) of the turret rooms have a view of the Castle; the other four face the Poly and the Wedding Pavilion. If I were to return, I would get a lagoon view room rather than concierge.

I know this post isn't about the level of service you recieve, but we used to stay concierge at the GF (deluxe or honeymoon) and we finally gave up. That's why we stay at the BWI. The GF is beautiful, but we weren't happy with some things. There are many people who adore it there. We gave it eight chances in seven years and won't return again.

Cinderella37 did you stay concierge every time? Just wondering because I am having a difficult time justifying the price and if my husband knew he would blow a gasket (not really) he told me to do whatever but it is a dream to stay at the Grand Floridian so I might as well get it out of my system. I may just do Lagoon View though. Is there that much difference between Lagoon View and Garden View?

The turret honeymoon suites are beautiful and huge! There are actually 6 of them, with 3 having a panoramic view from the Wedding Chapel to Cinderella's castle. They are all located in the main part of the main building (not sure if that makes any sense), but they are close to the lounge, elevator and concierge staff. No private balcony, but if you are on the 3rd floor, the concierge balcony is practically right outside your room. In all the times we've stayed there, I've never seen anyone use it. The remaining concierge rooms (9 I think) are all on the 2nd floor and sort of in their own wing. Balconies overlooking the marina, above Gasparilla's Grille so maybe not so private, but great views of the castle.

Even if you downsize and go with a garden view room, you won't be disappointed. You will not have to worry about seeing the parking lot. When they say garden, they mean garden. You might be interested in a lodge tower room or dormer room. With the tower room, you'll get some extra space and sort of a little living room area. They are available in SugarLoaf, so you could still go concierge (just a lighter version) and have that style of room.

Here's a great site for the layouts of the rooms, http://www.the-grahams.net/gf/rooms.html. Also, this site has some great pictures and 360 degree views http://www.ourlaughingplace.com/ASP/costcalc.asp?resId=GF&pageFunction=researcher. There's one more that I know of which has pictures of the turret honeymoon suites, but I can't post the link. Just send me a pm if you'd like to see it.

We stayed in one of the turret rooms during our honeymoon in 97. It is amazing! The room was huge & the view was absolutly beautiful. The concierge were so wonderful & helpful. It was just the best stay!

You might want to PM kristi1357 about her experience in one of these rooms. I'll warn you, it wasn't a happy story.

We didn't have a suite, just a Honeymoon room. I think it was considered deluxes, I'm not really sure.

It was on the second floor over the Grill, with the most amazing view of the castle. There was a king bed and a jacuzzi type tub.

We absolutely loved it.

I thought it was fun to watch the people down below. The children chased the ducks, the boats came and went, and if we wanted complete privacy or silence we simply closed the sliding glass doors and didn't hear a sound!

We sat on our balconey each night and watched the fireworks.

I admit that each night I always peaked out to watch the castle turn colors....it was just such a dream to be able to look out my window any time of day or night and see that darn castle!

We loved having our own "private" elevator from the second floor down to the back of the hotel to go to the pools etc.

If it's been a dream to stay at the GF, I say go all the way and get a room in the main building and enjoy. You'll talk about it forever and get enjoyment from your memories for years.

Sorry, I meant to say that we did look into one of the suites while we were there. The door was open and mousekeeping was making up the room......it looked wonderful!

But the honeymoon room was fine for just the two of us.

Karen, the turret honeymoon rooms are part of the group of honeymoon rooms that you stayed in. The pricing is the same, there are only 6 though and I guess you'd have to specifically request that style. We had a surprise upgrade from our standard concierge room, so I'm not positive as to how it's initially booked, that's just what I've read.

We've stayed on the 4th floor over Gasparilla's Grille and I thought it was a great spot. We never had any problem with noise and having the castle dead center was incredible. Even though it was a further walk to the lounge, I also liked having that service elevator right there. So convenient to Gasparilla's and the pools.

No, I've stayed in lagoon view rooms also. We actually preferred the lagoon view over the concierge stays we had. We always got a corner room with two balconies, though, so the room was significantly larger. The lagoon view is beautiful; we were always lucky to have a Cinderella Castle view, but that's not guaranteed. We stayed in Boca Chica. A view of Cinderella's Castle and hearing the train whistle blowing and the wolf howl at the Haunted Mansion are a few things I really miss about the GF.

We also stayed in one over Gasparilla Grill... but it was being remodeled at the time so there was NO ONE there. They did the work during the day and didn't have to hear the noise since we were out... heard minimal for those afternoon naps. Pics of room and view are at www.CoreyAndDavid.com under honeymoon/disneymoon.

We loved it. Actually, that is part of the reason we are going back... no honeymoon room this time though.

Just an FYI: Our agent told us that honeymoon rooms and suites are never discounted.

Thanks Davids-Coco I just paid for our trip and decided to forget concierge and just do lagoon view. I know that we wouldn't use the concierge because last year when we were in Santa Fe we had a private butler and we never made one request. He said we were the easiest couple he had ever been assigned to. I had made all of the dinner reservations and the concierge lounge was lost on us, we never used it. Soooo lagoon view for us on September 29 through October 2 Yipee!
