Say there's a couple and 3-4 people in another group waiting to be seated. A table for 6-8 people opens up. Would they then put both parties at the same table in order to speed things up or keep them separate?
Disney does use a system where they do not hold tables open for a party with an ADR - they give that party the first available table that opens up that will fit their party, in the order that the guests checked in, so a party of two with three other parties of two lined up ahead of them will not get the first table for two available - so there is no table waiting for you when you arrive, and yes, that is confusing because they changed the name of the system to Advance Dining Reservations rather than Priority Seating.

And restaurants have patrons already seated who are taking their sweet time finishing up their meals. Get a couple groups of slower diners all in a row, and you've got a wait.

We never had a problem WAITING, but Mary Poppins was a no-show and my daughter was dressed like her. COMPLETELY like her...hat, gloves, dress and umbrella.
The manager led my daughter into the dining room and said "EVERYONE...HER IS MARY POPPINS", as my daughter waved to the crowd. SHe received claps from everyone. It made her trip!!
The original post is kind of confusing. They paid the bill at 9:20 and were still able to see the end of Illuminations in Epcot in front of SSE? Isn't Illuminations only about 20 minutes long, starting at 9, therefore long over? And I thought at CRT the picture was included in the cost, yet they were asked to purchase it for $30? At least it was included last year when we went for breakfast.
We are expected to be at our reservations on time why cant they be ready for them. I am writing a formal letter to Disney about this one. I can understand 15 min or even 30 min but 1hr this is nuts. I am not a person that believes in handouts but Disney should of put effort in comping for there error.
But I would be steamed too at waiting over an hour for the characters to come by the table. That is why most people go to those meals, to see the characters. That is not excusable. Once seated the characters should be by in a timely manner. But I wonder if that is what was causing the back-up with seating, that the characters were running behind for some wierd reason, then the tables wouldn't be turning over when they should, and then it was all a big mess.
