we will be staying at GF for the 2nd time in january. the last time we were there we ate at 1900 Park Fair, but no other restaurant at the resort. we loved the breakfast and dinner we had at 1900 PF but aren't going to do it again. so my question is, who has eaten at Grand Floridian Cafe, have you enjoyed it, and what have you eaten!?!? i don't hear much at all about it, and the menu on All Ears looks kind of limited. i feel like we should eat somewhere at the resort since we are staying there, but i don't think we'd do Citricos or Narcoosees w/ the kids.

thanks!

we ate lunch there several times last sept whn we were there
it was great very nice relaxing atmophere
good food
never had bad servicethe turkery club is exclletn its real turkey so so good
the cappacino is good and they make a mickey head on the top of it with choclate
yum
i would love to eat here again but we are skipping it in dec as we are tying out some new stuff

I've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner there over the past couple years. All were very good. It's seldom crowded, and the atmosphere is casually elegant.

I do'nt recall any longer what DH and I had, but I do recall that we've always loved our entrees.

We have had several nice meals at GF Cafe and have a ADR there for lunch during our upcoming trip.

We eat lunch there almost every trip and have since it opened. We love it. Good food, service and the restaurant is lovely. A favorite is their signature sandwich which has had different names over the years but is ham and turkey on foccacia with boursin cheese sauce. Our daughter loves that sandwich. Sometimes we'll get the snadwich and soup combo which is good, the Cobb salad is huge and tasty and not as finely chopped as that at HBD. There is a shrimp entree that our DIL loves. DS1 used to love a Cuban sandwich but that hasn't been on the menu when we've been there for a while. DS2 almost always gets a cheeseburger which looks great.

We've had dinner there a few times over the years. Everything we've had is good.

thank you for the responses. we will probably be having dinner here. it just seems easy on a lazy day. i just hope the food at dinner is as good as that at lunch. it seems more people have had lunch here.

we ate there a few years ago and it was really good. as an appetizer we had some sort of southwestern roll (looked like a spring roll, but with different contents and it was really good! I had filet mignon..yum! I can't recall what DH or my then 5 yr DD had, but they were both happy as well. I think DD may have had shrimp or steak? I'd go again..we're just busy trying out other places we haven't been to yet.

For many years GF Cafe was only open for breakfast and lunch. It began serving dinner in 2004 due to popular demand. The resort sorely needed a moderately priced sit-down restaurant a la Kona Cafe, Concourse Steakhouse, and Yacht Club Galley serving dinner.

Sotoalf, I have to disagree with you on this. For many years, GF Cafe did serve dinner. It did stop for a year and a half or two. At the time it was said it was because of rennovations to the kitchen but it also happened to be around 9/11 and the tourist slowdown.

During that time, we had more than one server encourage us to write that we missed it on the little review card when we would inquire when dinner would be offered again.

I bet California Dreamin remembers this as well.

Anyway, I too am glad that it is serving dinner again. It fits the needs of many families like the OP.

No you're right! We dined at the Cafe in February 1990 and summer '91. We noticed it had closed for dinner sometime in 2001.

We ate there for dinner during our trip this past September. Very nice. I had the chicken and my dh had the prime rib. I had an appetizer of brie wrapped in phyllo dough that was awesome! I could have eaten several of them. I can't remember what my dds had-maybe pizza? We had a great server too. I think his name was David. We would go back.

Yes, I do remember it quite well. :) Although, I have no doubts they did it due to the downturn and not kitchen renovations. One thing I've noticed over the years, though, is that the dinner menu is shrinking (but, it seems like that is happening all over the "world"). AND, I really miss all the desserts they used to have! The cheesecake, the chocolate mousse with the stenciled chocolate Mickey on the plate, and many others --- why oh why did they go to the (limited selection of) mini desserts...

thanks everyone. i'm starting to feel better about our ADR here. i wasn't sure if i made the right decision or not.

We've had breakfast, lunch and dinner there over the past few years and have enjoyed every meal! It has become a tradition for us to have lunch there right after we check in, just as we did the first time we brought our DD(3 1/2 at the time) to WDW! We were so pleased with the atmosphere, the decor, the view, the service and of course, the food! Because of that fond memory we made, it is a special place for us and we've never been let down.
