I haven't heard much about this restaurant. We are considering it for dinner. We have a 4 and 5 year old and will be visiting the World in May. Any information you can give me would be appreciated.

Thanks! :flower3:

My mom and I ate there for lunch and it was pretty good. I can't remember what we ate but we enjoyed it very much and our waiter was really nice.

GFC was the best meal we had last May, we ate there for lunch. The food was great, prices were fair, beautiful atmosphere, and our service was by FAR the best we'd ever had at a Disney restaurant. We special ordered the slipper desserts to have there, as well, as a surprise for my mom, and they bent over backwards to make it a big surprise.

We loved it, and I think it's one of Disney's best kept secrets. =)

What do you recommend from the lunch menu? TIA!

Let me think... My brother had the Cobb Salad, which was fully loaded and yummy. My DH and I split a chicken salad sandwich and bowl of french onion soup, and my mom and sister split another chicken salad sandwich and soup. We had finished a hot morning of family portraits at Epcot, so this was a nice light meal. Plus, we had those slippers coming.

(funny story-my brother was the last to order, and only one not splitting with someone, so he jokingly told our waiter that he was splitting the Cobb Salad with himself. Well, waiter brings our meals that were all presplit in the back, even the soup, and he split my brothers salad into two bowls for him. It was too funny, and I am convinced he got more food out of it!)

Their menu is not large, for lunch at least, but we all found something we liked. =)

That is too funny about them bringing the Cobb salad in 2 bowls! Thanks for your recommendations. I think you read my mind lol because I was thinking of the chicken salad or shrimp salad sandwich when I looked at the menu. Something light and not fried sounds good since we always get enough of that on vacation.

DW and I had lunch there last week. It is a favorite for lunch because it is easy to get to and usually not a long wait.

I agree with the reviews of the Cobb Salad; it was very good and the server went out of his way to relate the story of how it was invented.

The hamburgers, however, are not very good. Very dry and bland, even with the toppings on the Grand Floridian Burger. The menu states that they will cook the burgers well-done unless otherwise specified - so I specified Medium. I am guessing these burgers are re-heated from frozen.

The saving grace was the Fries which were great.

GF Cafe is one of our favorites too. We have not been there for dinner, but we eat there every couple of weeks or so for lunch - the turkey club is yummy! :cool1:

Hello...we'll be staying at the CR in march and i thought it would be fun to have meals at the different monorail resorts........

Did you have any waits to be seated? Do you NEED a PS? Has anyone had dinner here? Thanks for your replies!

We always have a PS even if I call at the last minute. Sometimes it is not crowded at all and other times it's packed. No particular rhyme or reason...it can be very busy in an off season time if a large convention is at the GF for instance.

We haven't had dinner there for some years but almost always have lunch there at least once during our trips. It is our daughter's (19) favorite lunch spot. She loves their signature sandwich which has had different names over the years. My husband almost always does the soup and sandwich option...a shrimp salad sandwich has been offered at times too. I sometimes order the sandwich/soup but also love the Cobb salad. DS2 gets the cheeseburger which has always looked great. I wonder if you caught it on a bad day DaddyBeast? Next time, I think I'll ask him for a taste. He can't really talk and I'm going to feel badly if we keep getting him a burger that looks great but is actually dry! :earseek:

It is a really beautiful restaurant with great service. We love to take the little launch :boat: from the MK to the GF and stroll to the main building for lunch there.

We (DS 11, SIL 30 and me (40, I can't believe I admitted that) had lunch at the GFC on Jan. 1, 2005. I really like the restaurant. We had the artichoke dip appetizer, really yummy and cheesy, my DS had a cheeseburger, cooked perfectly, I had a veggie burger (trying to diet, which is crazy at WDW) and my SIL had a turkey club sandwich (it was huge). The food was good. The slight problem was our server; he was very nice, but would disappear for long amounts of time. The breakfast at 1900 Park Fare was just ending and I'm wondering if the waitstaff from GFC pulls double duty and have to cover both? If anyone knows, please write.

Has anyone tried dinner there? This place looks like it may have been a well kept secret :D

We had dinner there on a Saturday in December. Our server was SO friendly and very attentive. We started out with salads which had a blood orange dressing on top. It was delicious! My mom and I split the New York Strip Steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables and it was SO good. My dad the GF Signature sandwich which was like a club sandwich. It was huge and my dad loved it. For dessert we had a special surprise for my dad, we ordered the Cinderella Slipper Desserts. Our server was very good at keeping it a secret and was a lot of fun. The dessert was AMAZING! Our server definately made the dinner a wonderful experience. I highly recommend going to the GF Cafe on a weekend because the servers seemed to be much more attentive than when we went on a weekday (our server for the dinner on a weekday wasn't friendly and the place was SO quiet and our food wasn't as good).

The GF cafe is a wonderful spot. I was so happy when they decided to open it back up again for dinner. The artichoke dip is delicious and I'm also a big fan of their turkey club sandwich. If you go, request Izzy as your server. He's been there for years and is a true GF gem.

We had dinner there in September with no PS, just walked in and had no wait. We all had simple things - turkey club (tasty!), chicken strips, ceasar salad with chicken, and steak sandwich. We also had the small dessert samplers - just right! Small and cheaper than a big dessert, it hit the spot! Great service and lovely setting. Not much in the way of "entertainment" for little ones, but lovely none the less.
