Has anyone eaten at the Grand Floridian Cafe, and if so, how was it. I will be going in Sept. and the 1900 Park Fare is be refurbished. I will like anybodys opinion..thanks everyone:hippie:

Blah, we ate there. 4 adults, an evening res. The atmosphere was nice, but the serivce was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO slow! We waited and waited for everything, including our drinks, food, apps, and check. By the time we got the check the resturant had closed!
Our waiter was a young guy, nice enough, but the wait time was outrageous. We enjoyed hanging out and talking but we were tired! We had wanted a nice relaxing dinner and then to head to bed to be ready for the next day at the parks! Unfortunately we were held up so long it ceased to be relaxing and became tedious. It really makes me steamed :headache: to think of how exhausted we all were by the time we finally got out of that place, and into our hotel.
Blah, def. would not return. Aside from the awful wait time, the place I found to be just average.

Do you have an opinion of Ohanas?

We made a last minute reservation on our last trip and really liked it. The restaurant was really pretty and the service was good. No complaints. We had the crab cakes, chicken breast, shrimp pasta and meatloaf. All the food was very good. If you do a search you will find many good reviews on this restaurant.

When we ate there it was kind of nice. I had told my GF how nice the GF was and she wanted to eat there. We took the boat from MK to GF and she was really blown away by the resort as we aproached. We got there and were immediatly seated and service was good. Food was excelent. My GF has made it a "must do" on our list when we go again in sept.

the GF cafe is one of my favorite restaurants. we have never had slow service there, and I have been 3-4 times. The food is excellent and I love the atmosphere. Ask if you can get a window seat, looking out over the courtyard is very relaxing! i have a dining review in my siggy if you want to check it out.

I just talked to WDW dining to book some ADR's for my dd's b-day trip. The Grand Floridian Cafe will be hosting the character buffet while 1900 Park Fair is being refurbished.

DD is a little disappointed because we were going to eat there on her birthday and the menu was exactly what she wanted. So now we have to go thru the menus again.

We decided instead of going to the GFC, we would take the boat from MK and go to Wilderness Lodge and eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Hope it's good....

Any idea what the dates are for 1900's refurbishment? And GFC will be turned into a buffet during these dates??

No they will be pre-plated meal at the grand floridian cafe for the 1900 park fare. I think it reopend in October... I don't want pre-plated meals..

Does anyone have any reviews of it for lunch? I'm thinking of eating there in September.

We had late morning breakfasts there two weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service on one day was a bit slow.

I don't know the dates, but we're going in August. I asked if it was a buffet and the lady at disney dining said yes.

They must have just changed their minds, then. On this site, it says the dates of the refurb, but no further info, but on AllEars it says:

The Grand Floridian Resort's 1900 Park Fare will close for refurbishment Monday, July 9, 2007, through Monday, October 1, 2007, and is scheduled to reopen October 2, 2007. During this time, the Grand Floridian Cafe will become the site for both the "Supercalifragilistic Breakfast" and "Cinderella's Gala Feast." These will both be character meals, but NOT buffets (as they are at 1900 Park Fare) -- they will be pre-plated character meals.

we ate at the GFC twice last september (twice for dinner)

both times it was excellent

got there when it openend - quiet, nice view out the windows

crab cake appetizer, prime rib, dessert sampler, iced coffee

DH had shrimp/steak combo

was relaxing - pretty atmosphere

we'd go back
