If you had to choose between GFC or Concourse which one would you pick? We are looking for something close to MK & would like to try something new. We have been to most of the other close restuarants.

We are leaning toward GFC because my DD & I are thinking we can try to get some of the Chilled Strawberry Soup  we had at 1900 Park Fair. Do you think this is possible?

Would love to hear your opinions on these two restaurants!

We've done GFC for the first breakfast of every Disney trip for years. While the menu choices for breakfast are a bit limited (as most non-buffet breakfasts are), the food is great. We've never eaten there for lunch/dinner, but the room at GFC is very nice, open and airy.

I wish I could give you a positive review of Concourse Steakhouse, but having eaten there on a number of occasions years ago and having substandard cuts of beef cooked to incorrect temperatures, we waved bye-bye to CS and haven't returned in years. Maybe it's gotten better...

Which meal?
We prefer GFC for breakfast and are eating there for dinner for the first time in December!

I've never ate at GFC, but I have read great things.

Now I did eat at Concourse Steakhouse twice; both times on the ddp. The first was November of last year. It was wonderful and amazing and great. Which would be why I rebooked it in May to go back with DFi. This time it wasn't nearly as good. However, the first time we had the Buffalo and it wasn't available the second. So, I guess that was the difference. For being a steakhouse, I guess I've had better.

I would loooove to try GFC. Good luck in choosing!

I'm headed to the GFC for the first time in December. We're going for dinner too, so I'll be happy to read reviews of it before we go.

I went to Concourse Steakhouse, though, and LOVED it! I highly recommend it! We're headed there twice this coming trip. It's our favorite so far.

(At least, it is, now that Alfredo's has closed.) :(

Good luck.

If it were me I'd go with Concourse Steakhouse. I've never been to GFC, but Concourse Steakhouse was really yummy and if you want to eat there you should go ahead and go for it now as they'll be closing next spring :sad1:

Concourse now they will be gone soon.

We ate at both last year, and although the atmosphere was better at the Grand Floridian Cafe, we far preferred Concourse Steakhouse because the food was better. GFC was fine, though.

I go to Concourse because I like the atmosphere and the food. Its great watching the monorail go by while I'm eating dinner. DF and I are eating there next week to "say goodbye" as its one of our favorites, and we are really bummed its closing....

We have had lunch and dinner at the GFC and enjoyed both. We will probably go back on our upcoming trip. The atmosphere is very nice and we enjoy visiting the GF too!

Just a bump!

Anyone have any more thoughts? Specifically looking for info on GFC. I cannot find any recent reviews on this place. Thanks!

not even close! Grand Floridian. There is a reason that the Concourse will soon close..not good!

We've eaten at both many times for all meals. Grand Floridian is one of our not to be missed on any trip. Pretty atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service. Concourse grill is OK, but does not have the nice atmosphere, food is good, but it's never on our list anymore.

I'm not sure about the strawberry soup. I've only had it at 1900 Park Fair. At the Grand Floridian Cafe, the Chocolate Ganache Fondue is oh so yummy!!! Two weeks from tonite!!! Can't wait!!!

I have to say we did breakfast at the Grand Floridian cafe and something was not right that day.. the place was dirty, our server's uniform was all stained, service was not good and food was not good. I have always recommended this place but this last time, we all looked at each other and said what happened to this restaurant..

I have not done the Concourse in years so I cannot comment on that one...

We had lunch at the GF Cafe just yesterday and it was wonderful as always.

We last had dinner there in January and it was very good. We prefer it over CS. But I don't know if the strawberry soup is on the menu.

BTW, the lunch menu has changed again. New chicken sandwich, some different salads, etc.. I had a salmon salad with citrus vinegarette which was very good.

My 2 cents. Our family had lunch at GFC last Fall. The fixtures seemed a bit worn, in need of renovation. The service was painfully slow and indifferent. Our food selections were on par with the Village Inn diner chain. Not a highlight of our trip.

We haven't eaten at CG.

Thanks for the replies :goodvibes !! It sure helps hearing other's opinions. I think we have decided on GFC. I will let you know what we think when we return. A little more then 3 weeks away :cool1:

We tried the Concourse during our April trip. I was disappointed that they seated us under a soffit so we couldn't see the monorail whisk by.....that was one of the big reasons I had wanted to try it. The food itself was OK, probably one of the better restaurants we picked. The chocolate cake dessert was pretty good!

I can't say anything on GF though.

Did someone say Concourse was closing? Permanently?

I have not dined at the GFC yet, but we did dine at CS in 2006. I really was not that impressed with it. The steak was not the best that I have had at WDW. But, others that I did dine with loved it there.

One thing that might sway you is that CS is going to be closing sometime early in 2008, so you may want to try it before it closes for good.
