Has anybody done the afternoon english tea thingy at the Grand Floridian??(from 2-6)

Mike mentioned it, and this is right up my MIL's street, she will love it, just wondered if anybody had done it and whats it like??.

Also wondering can you suplement tea for coffee instead(i cant even bare the smell of tea!).

don't know if I caught you in time it is fun and yes you can have coffee just like my dad.

One warning the only thing that we had that didn't have very sweet cream was the scones, very nice they were too.

My Dads cheese plate was very nice

hope this helps

Were they ones with squashed flies in?! (aka currents or sultanas) or were they plain scones?

Thanks

Ours didn't have any insects that I could see LOL! But I suppose this could change.

I think if we go again mum and me would share cheese plate and then finish with scones.

The tea we had was very good.

From what I can remember of the prices. Although it wasn't the cheapest cream tea I've ever had. Portions weren't huge compared to some of the American sized things you can get but they were large enough for us to replace a meal.

I know that if you look at Deb's Allears site she has a menu there for it so you can look at prices.

Can't wait to read about your experience if you go - I've got a PS for this in September and I can't wait, sounds yummy - hubby wants a photo of me drinking tea all posh like with my pinkie sticking out lol :p Have a great holiday!

The setting is very nice and the cream tea enjoyable but not *that* English if you know what I mean. I usually meet an American friend there and she likes it too. The sandwiches last time included cream cheese and pear  and the 'Devonshire' cream portion was very small. However, there is a good selection of pastries (I especially liked the choux swans filled with a patisserie cream) and the whole thing is quite elegant. China is 'Old Country Roses' (or something very similar). A nice break from the parks.
