Hello all,
Has anyone ever done the Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian? My mom and I were going to go during our ladies only trip in December and I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me about thier experiences?
Also, we are going to use the discovery magic package, does anyone know if you can use wishes for the tea?

Thanks,

Hi! We had afternoon tea there, after our wedding reception at the GF. If you've had the "real thing" - soft, delicous sandwiches plated on a 3 level tray, with scones on the middle level, and pastries on the top level, the tea will be disappointing. The sandwiches were quite dry, and the presentation is nothing like that of the teas we've been to in London. They serve each course very, very slowly, one at a time, on regular plates, so that you don't get the 3 level tray.
Our waiter was funny, but his humor couldn't make up for the fact that he spilled something (luckily, it almost landed on my brother, not on myself or husband, b/c I'd have freaked about a close call with the wedding dress or tux!) and forgot to bring silverware out to us.
It was pretty quiet, and we probably would have enjoyed it if we hadn't had the real thing in England - it just doesn't compare to tea at Brown's or Claridge's.
Cheers!

Thanks for your reply, I have never done a real tea, the only time I have ever done a high tea was on the Disney Magic (Disney Cruise Line) so it is probably about the same, although they have more choices at the Grand Floridian Tea.
Does anyone else have any opinions?
Thanks!!

If you've had a high tea, don't expect the same thing at an afternoon tea. Your "meal" will be much lighter and more focused on the tea itself. That being said, you must definitely go to a good afternoon tea should you find yourself in England.

You'll likely hear a wide range of opinions on this...but for what it's worth, my wife and I attended the tea a couple years ago. I sorta liked it. :D

She didn't. :(

She has fond memories of a tea they serve on the cruise ship, the Norway, and didn't think the Disney GF tea measured up. Sandwiches and food were, to her, unexciting and relatively bland.

Me, I'm happy with a burger and fries, so what do I know?

I was pleased, though, that they serve both coffee AND tea. I'm a coffee kind of guy.

My mother and I had Tea in the Garden View lounge. We loved it.

Fisrt we were served our selection of teas ... I had their Garden view blend (hot), my mother had the raspberry (cold)
The sandwiches were very good and filling .... egg salad, salmon, chichen salad and cream cheese and cucumber (I'm not 100% certain on the last, I know we had one with watercrest, but I think it was on the salmon, not the cream cheese), along wiht this came a tomato tartlet.
After this we had our second course ... Scone and jam tarts. Then we had our choice of 2 pastries or strawberries and cream. My mother had the strawberries and cream. I had a banna cream swan and a clocolate cream eclair.

Having never been to England for the real thing. I loved the tea, we find it so relaxing and especially enjoy the music that drifts in from the lobby. We always get the tea for two: 2 teas, scones, finger sandwiches and pastries. Go I think you will like it.

Thanks for the replies, I made the ressies for mom and myself (girls only trip, we are leaving our men behind) and I think it will be a nice experience for the two of us!

I loved the cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches that I had on the Disney Cruise!

Thanks!
