Grand Floridian afternoon tea

I'm curious too.DD and I are doing this in October. I just love afternoon tea!

I've been twice to the GF Afternoon Tea, and am going there again in October. It's an elegant experience, with gorgeous china and linens. The service has been phenomenal both times. The selection of teas is mind boggling and it takes me forever to pick everytime. The finger sandwiches are all made with fresh ingredients and are very tasty. The scones here are some of the best I've ever had.

I am taking my daughter for tea on Sept 25th her 14th birthday. Just us two, leaving the guys back at the resort :goodvibes from what I have read on here its wonderful and yummy..

I took my mother for Mother's Day in April. (A bit early but we were home by Mother's Day!) It was wonderful!

We were at MK for rope drop and had a great time all morning. We left there a little early for the reservation and took the boat to the GF so we could stroll around the resort before eating. We actually got seated a little early too.

They bring you a box with a ton of different teas and you open the jars and sniff to choose your tea. We had the Gardenview Blend and it was very good. You can choose from several different tea menus. Mom chose Buckingham Palace because it was the closest to the tea my mother had at Kensington Palace in London. Everything was absolutely delicious and the server was delightful! There were several different sandwiches and they were on different kinds of bread...every one of them was so good, and the pastries were great! We went out into the lobby afterward and listened to the man playing the Grand Piano for a while. It was a lovely, relaxing afternoon. Then we took the boat back to the MK and spent the rest of the day there, saw Spectro and Wishes...perfect end to a lovely day!

This is the menu from AllEarsNet.com:

I went with my boyfriend in 2005. It was a fun thing for us to do. It was our first trip together and I surprised him with Red Sox tickets at tea. I worked with the staff and dropped the tickets off earlier in the day. The CM put the tickets in his menu so when he opened his tea menu they were the first thing he saw.

It was awesome and the CM helped to plan it out perfectly. mom2my3kids it would be a nice place to celebrate your daughters birthday and maybe surprise her with a little something special too. It is a fun way to spend the afternoon.

I'm a bit nervous now because I checked my Ressie's and they're for 5pm at the Garden View Lounge....but allears says they only serve tea until 4:30..anyone know if this is correct?:confused3

I took my 8yo and 3 yo to tea on our trip in April. It was wonderful! i surprised them and ordered Cinderella's Slipper dessert! They loved it!

My mom and I went last year. It was a very elegant experience. One of our wait staff was earning her ears and had an experienced person guide her in what to do. Mom and I had the best time.

Tea is served from 2pm-6pm.

I have been many times. It is awesome. The sandwiches are great. The scone is wonderful. It also comes with an onion tart. For dessert you can select a couple of pastries, the trifle, or strawberries and cream. I usually get the Buckingham Palace. The Grand Tea is nice but the only extra thing it comes with is a glass of champagne.

My favorite time to go to tea is in Nov/Dec when they have the hotel decorated for Christmas and have the life size ginger bread house in the lobby.

When I (21) went with DM and DFriend 23 in March, this is what we had. (Note: Each person in a party can get a different thing, so you don't all need to get the Grand, but I highly suggest it!) It was amazing. Each of us chose a different pot of tea. I know we had the Eros and the Cassis. I think our third tea was a seasonal blend. Since we each got our own pot, we made the decision to all get different things so that we could pass the pots. After every cup we would switch pots so we could have different teas. The sandwiches were so good. My favorite had to be the grilled pear and gorgonzola. The scones were also great but the cream that goes with is what makes them amazing. My friend and I chose to get the pastries but my mom had the cobbler dessert. Everyone was quite satisfied. Even though you wouldn't think it, the meal is completely filling. None of us ate anything else till 10pm that night and our tea was at 2.

Champagne cocktails!

Great photos!! Everything sounds wonderful, how do you ever make up your mind on what to get!

Thank you so much for all of the wonderful responses. And the lovely pictures!:goodvibes

Do you think its suitable for men to be there too? only we were going to do it as a family, me, dh,and my parents. But I dont want them to feel uncomfortable.

Also how long does it last?

Dd and I went last month and are returning in 3 weeks. We loved the whole experience. Our waitress was very nice and joked with Chloe some. We had the Grand and Chloe had the Mrs. Potts tea. Personally I thought the sandwiches were nasty. I ate them because was hungry but decided to just get things alacart next time because I could have eaten a million of the scones. Chloe loved it because she got her milk in a tea pot so she felt so special. The kids sandwiches were great however and I wished I could get those instead. I love PB and J!
It took about an hour to do if I recall. it was unrushed. I saw men there when I was there. I dont think anyone would feel out of place.
Enjoy your tea!

Thanks again.

Can adults have Mrs Potts tea?

Can you order a selection from the a la carte menu and share between you so you can get a tatse of everything?

Tea is served from 2pm-6pm.

Thanks, I called today to confirmmy 5pm ressies and Michele at Disney did confirm they're open until 6.

I can't wait, I've done tea in Victoria BC with my DH, tea with my eldest DD (23) in Seaside Oregon and now DD (21) and I will enjoy a spot of tea in Disney.....I'm liking this tradition!

DH and I have gone to GF's afternoon tea 3 out of our 3 trips so far. We are going again this Dec. DH is very comfortable and didn't at all feel out of place at the GF or any other afternoon teas we've gone to. We also like that this tea is only about $20 bec. the afternoon teas around San Francisco are like $32-$38.

On one of our visits, we had just come from Wide World of Sports where DH did the NFL experience. We were running late so we didn't have a chance to change. We were not at all dressed for tea, but the servers didn't mind at all.
In one afternoon, DH went from pretend NFL player to "pinkies-out" afternoon tea :lmao:

I agree with PP, men will not at all feel uncomfortable. They can get a cheese plate and a glass of port or something else manly if they are not into tea. There are lots of a la carte selections. My husband loves it. I've been with various other male members of the family as well. Everyone enjoyed themselves. It's wonderfully relaxing and the surroundings are just beautiful. You can purchase the GardenView tea to bring home as well.
