I am off to WDW again in February 2025. I am going with someone who has NEVER been before.

As I see it I have narrowed down to several options.

Im not short of points, I usually stay in a 1BR.

I am looking at EITHER a Grand Floridian standard 1BR or Poly lake view studio.

It may be that come that time the 1BR at Poly are released, but at this stage I have assumed not.

Which would you prefer, ignoring the points factor......?

Villas at GF were excellent on our recent visit. There's a nice quiet pool and another with a slide the grandkids loved.

We visited the Polynesian with our kids in 1991 and several times thereafter. On a recent visit, we were disappointed in appearance of the resort, the fences around the pools, the acres of bare concrete around the pool with the slide, the long fence along the lagoon guarding the entrances to the accommodations on the lagoon and the loss of a true Polynesian feeling. The wonderful theming we recall from our visits in the 1990's and early 2000's (the rainforest in the Great Ceremonial House lobby) has been replaced by acres of concrete and hideous fake volcanic rock.

So much has been lost, (pool hopping) and the sheer number of folks packed into the resorts have diminished the magic.

I've stayed in both the VGF 1BR and the Poly studio. I'd pick the VGF 1BR for sure. Even the standard view is fun - it's usually a monorail view! And remember, a lake view Poly studio might be on the first floor and have a view of mostly the bungalows.
