Grand Flo Monorail Question

Since the GF is the last stop before the MK, do the monorail cast members ever set aside any space specifically for guests getting on at the GF? I seem to remember several years ago trying to board at the GF monorail station during busy times and seeing the trains be completely full with Contemporary and Polynesian guests. This was especially true with the first few trains of the morning, and really bad on an Early Entrance Morning. Is this still a problem?

Andrew in St. Louis,
getting ready to go in July!! :goodvibes

We were at the Poly in October '03, and at that time, they did not reserve any space on that monorail for GF guests.

they use to do several, several years ago - I think they stopped it a couple of years after the GF was finished.

the Cont was the front, the Polyn was the middle and the GF was the back. Of course that was when there were 2 monrails on this line not the 4 it has now.

but with so many people visiting the resorts it wasn't a great ideal then - now it would even have less meaning.

some people don't even know when they want off . :rotfl:

also in some cases people weren't willing to walk far enough - where the middle part closest to the resort was full and people were standing. at the ends you could get a seat.

next time just walk to the end of the monrail (looking all the time) - I bet you will find something.

This is true. Until a couple of years after the GF opened you would stand in queues depending on your destination: another monorail resort, the TTC, or MK. Guests were sat accordingly. I still think the idea makes a certain amount of sense, especially in the mornings and during park closings.

::MickeyMo While I have no idea about the rest of the Monorail seating, I know that certain Monorails are designated as "belonging" to specific resorts. We were able to ride up front when we boarded at the Contemporary. The driver told us that we could stay in the front at least until the Grand Floridian because if there were any GF guests waiting there and they had requested the front, they would be given our spots. So I guess each resort had it's own designated Monorail. LOL :goodvibes I think we ended up getting off at the Poly so I'm not sure if there were anyone waiting for the front. :flower: Rebecca

I stayed at the CR earlier this month. We went to MK on early day and it didn't get packed we got to sit down each time we got on the monorail. Nobody stood in our car. There weren't seperate sitting areas. We did have to walk all the way to the end a couple times but still got to sit. We even got to be co pilots one time. That was neat. We did have to stand going from Epcot at closing to the TTC. But then the resort monorail was empty and we watched the fireworks while going around because CR is last. That was cool. I loved the Monorail. When we arrived we got on the monorail to just go around it once. First time there.

If you're going to the MK from the GF, you can take the launch from the dock instead of the monorail. This is an especially good choice on the return trip because on the monorail you'll have to first stop at the Contemporary, TTC, and Poly before getting to the GF.
