Grand Cayman vs. Cozumel

We're trying to plan our shore excursions and need some help. Both Grand Cayman and Cozumel offer the Atlantis submarine dives and swimming. We can't decide where to do what.

Which island offers the best coral reef/sealife for submarine viewing and which one has the best beaches? We'd appreciate any and all opinions. Thanks for your help!

We did the Atlantis dive in Cozumel, and really enjoyed it. We saw lots of fish, some stingrays and a couple of sharks, lots of coral and everything that lives on it. We did it this way because we also really wanted to do the stingray excursion on GC. I've heard the reefs around GC are fabulous too, I really don't think you can go wrong either way.

I agree - you really can't go wrong either way. I would say the beaches are better on Cayman - I've never seen such white sand and the water was just crystal clear - amazing! We snorkeled both places and the reefs weren't as nice as I was expecting, but there were a lot of colorful fish both places. Also, we took the fury Catamaran cruise on Cozumel and the beach they take you to is very, very nice. I don't know about other beaches there - there have been some bad reviews of Chakanaab.

Thanks for your advice. I think we'll hit the beach at Grand Cayman and do the sub dive in Cozumel. It feels great to have a plan. Appreciate your help!
