Hello!! I'm sailing on October 23, and was thinking of doing some diving along the Grand Cayman wall. Has anyone ever done this and have any advice for someone wanting to plan it?

Thanks!

We did our first dive trip to Grand Cayman. It was Awesome!
Don't miss diving there!

This is a copy of one of my earlier posts about diving at GC. Hope it helps:

I understand exactly what you are saying. My son was 12 when he did his first DC and was AOW, Nitrox. Disney said no so we booked our own and have ever since. In GC we dove with Eden Rock once and that was nice and easy. We did a boat dive - 2 tank and than dove at their shore. We also dove with Bob Sotos at GC. They did a fine job. Better offshore reef selection than Eden Rock. We walked to both operators and had plenty of time.

Our trip for Coz was cancelled due to rough seas (12ft).

A good place to start with picking an operator is www.scubadiving.com. I have found they have most of the operators listed and the reviews are good.

If you take your own gear, which we do, be prepared that is a hassel to rinse and dry your gear on the ship. They have no place to do it except on deck or in your room. Hauling dive equipment is why we use Cat 6 rooms.

We dove in GC few years back. The dive was incredible. The wall was beautiful. Giant rays cruise by all the time... especially looking at them from the wall, they looked like giant eagles gliding in the sky. Giant seaturtles everywhere. Schools of fish, and most breath-taking was school of 5-6 7ft nurse sharks we ran into... LOL... this might scare some people, but they're actually really friendly. Anyway, If you decide to find your own dive operation, I highly recommend Nick from Red Baron, he has a reputation of finding the perfect dive spot. Do a search for Red Baron Divers and it should give you the link. Or simply go on www.scubadiving.com and post a question, alot of people will give you his info. One requirement tho, Nick will ask for you to take the first tender off the ship, because they leave fairly early in the morning for the first dive. We had to cancel ours because of that... we have a 3 year old that needs to get ready and dropped off at the club, didn't want to take the chance.

Hope this helps, and good luck.
