Ideally I'd love to have the kids sleep in a separate room, but that may not happen.

What room would you go for and why?

  • Standard View Room
  • Downtown Disney District View
  • Theme Park View
  • Concierge Standard View
  • Concierge Theme Park View
  • Parlor Suite One Bedroom

What's the deal with requesting bunk beds? I've seen on a few forums that you can do this. :cool1:

We are doing the DTD view. If $$$$$ were no object I would get the 1 or 2 bedroom suite. I want to be able to sit on the balcony above DTD and listen to the music and people watch.
You can request bunkbeds but since there are a limited number of rooms with that configuration, it is possible that you may not get them.

For our oct. trip..we have a standard view.
For our dec. trip..we have the dtd view.

My sweet friend treated me to a stay at the grand in may for the food and wine festival... and we were centered to the monorail. It was quiet and so kewl to watch them go by.

The DTD view rooms are great. It is really nice, as Jack said, to be able to sit out on the balcony and listen to music or just people-watch over DTD, and usually you get a great view of the fireworks too.

Does anyone have specific room numbers that they have stayed in that give a good view of both DTD and the park. Hate to be blocked by something.

Thanks, I have the map and to me that is one of the most confusing maps I have ever see. Trying to see if I need to put a request in for a specific area. We have requested two Queens so I hope that works out. The kids are two big for bunks. We are used to traveling with 6 but the two oldest are going to stay behind because of their jobs and tuition. That will be weird for me.

Hi again Jack, yes the map is confusing..you are looking at the map from the second floor, I put some notes on the map, hope it helps a little. Our rooms had two queen beds. And my DH just told me we were on the 4th floor.

Thanks, that gives me a better idea. Have been thru the 1st floor many times going to WWS and the DCA entrance, but not have the map in layers confuses me.

Here's another vote for the DTD view...somehow we seemed to enjoy it more than the theme park. Also had the corner parlor suite, but although the room was awesome, the view kind of sucked because the trees blocked everything!

I like the quieter CA view! I like the looking into the park at night with all the lights.

We had a DTD view, we looked out over Naples, OMG, it was AMAZING!!!!! This was early November so the parks closed earlier and we'd go back to the room at night, we'd open the balcony door and let the music just play. When we were ready to crash we closed the door and it was quiet!!!! GCH is by far my favorite hotel, too bad it's so $$$$.

The one and only time I stayed here, we had a park view with a view of Grizzly Peak and Soarin'!

It was beautiful when the sun was setting/rising!

Although I wouldn't mind a DTD view...just wondering how noisy it is when you're trying to sleep

Answer: As soon as you close the slider (door) it is quite, we had no trouble with any outside noise and slept like ...well you know the rest :cloud9:

I've had DTD just above the World of Disney Store. It was ok. To me, the loooooong walk to the room was not worth it. I've had view of DLH. Was nice, it rained that day and it was so cool to watch the clouds come in. But all the other times I have been with a garden view in the middle. Facing DL. The last two years I have had room 6001, concierge level. Very close to lounge and concierge desk. The cast members got to know us and even remembered my DS from last year. We watched fireworks from our room with the fireworks channel on the TV turned up cuz there were too many people on lounge terrace. We had same view as they did.

room view last year (note old monorail)had same room this year too

I just love this room. That's it top right.

We are just hoping we get a room with a reasonable view. I love to people watch and kick back when I have the opportunity which sometimes does not happen when we make a trip to Disneyland.

my room was right behind the character sign but it was a long twisty walk to the room

the view towards DLH when it rained that day and it was July

the garden walk. The best place to go if you want to be alone.

We had a DTD view too and we absolutely loved it. What was the smell that we'd get from under? The caramel popcorn cart? It was awesome and it was winter so it was nice and cold. It was a little bit of a trek to the room but the cool part is if you take the stairs down, you can be in front of the gates of DL from your room in less than 5 minutes.

In what part of the hotel are the stair located. Do they give you a map of the property when you check in.

Jack

They do give you a map upon check in. What stairs? The outside stairs that drop you out by the Sephora store?
