Grand Californian villas with rented DVC points?

it is nonrefundable because you are renting points from an owner, not from Disney. While that may seem like a risk to you, it is also a huge risk to us as owners. If a renter were to back out less than 30 days out, the points are put into a holding account and their use is very limited. It would also be a pain to find renter at that point. Renting DVC points requires trust and a good contract.

I am familiar with the process and totally get that. It doesn't "seem" risky, it is risky. While it may be a great option for some, it's the reason renting points isn't personally for us. We need the peace of mind in knowing that if we had to cancel, (less the 5 day Disney policy) our money would be refunded.

Agreed, if you need the flexibility, it probably isn't a good choice. If you are worried about the risk of renting directly from an owner, you could rent through David's Vacation Rentals, but will pay a little higher price per point. The villa's(particularly 1 and 2br) are really nice and it is very hard to go back to staying in a regular hotel room after experiencing VGC.

So here's a question for you guys... My husband and I are considering DVC at some point, but it'd be through a resort at WDW. That being said, is it relatively easy to book VGC at the 7 month mark? Even in say mid -November (non-Thanksgiving week) through early December? Just curious in case there are years we decide to use some points for a DL trip. :goodvibes

I was able to book a 1 bedroom at GCV for Thursday 11/22 through Tues 11/27... but was logged on literally right at the 7 monthmark. The minute the online booking opened up I was ready to go. It fills up fast as there are not as many rooms as other DVC resorts.

That said, I would assume the closer to Christmas the tougher it would get.
