Looking for some help on room request for studio and one bedrooms for Grand Californian. Will be our first visit.

Here's a list of what views each room has: https://www.disboards.com/threads/villas-at-disneys-grand-californian-room-views.2906031/ I believe Nonsuch has a particular thread listing which ones are best for each view, but I can't find that right now. In general, higher is better, due to the trees surrounding the hotel. If you're looking for a Paradise Pier view, 6504 is our favorite studio and 6502 our favorite 1BR!

Editing to add: Here's one of Nonsuch's sample emails: https://www.disboards.com/threads/vgc-how-to-make-room-request.2803859/#post-42710893

Thanks for the info. Would I be better off asking for a high room with Paradise Pier view or listing actual rooms?

For whatever reason (I'm told it's different at WDW, also) they prefer the actual room numbers. I've always used Nonsuch's sample email and have had pretty good luck getting one of my top three choices.

I scored 6504 last month. I got the reservation by waitlist a month before and requested high floor, park view. I checked in on a Wednesday, just lucky I guess. Second time in that room.

I have a GC room request question and I apologize if this has already been answered elsewhere on this forum but I can't find a thread that addresses room views specifically. We're making our 3rd trip to CA this spring (Easter week) and are splurging for a room at the GC (we've stayed at DL Hotel in the past). Very excited to try the GC and looking forward to having a balcony to enjoy morning coffee each day (missed that at the DL Hotel) but Easter week pricing is really crazy. We have a standard view booked right now but we'd really like to have a Downtown Disney view instead. We're wondering if that is really the best view options for us however and whether it's worth the additional cost. I'm concerned about lack of privacy on our balcony (which we will likely use in the morning and evening) and concerned about room noise during the day and at night if we're trying to sleep before everything closes (we'll be on East coast time for the first day or two and likely in bed "early"). I can get over the cost of even the theme park view (if that's a better option) as long as we really are happy with the view and overall experience associated with a room in one of these locations. I've read that requesting a high floor is a good idea but does anyone have thoughts on the view category (woods/courtyard vs. downtown Disney vs. theme park)? I like our room to be quiet at night, we don't want to struggle to see what we paid to see for a particular view category, and we don't really care about location within the resort as we're used to WDW walking so proximity to park entrance, elevators and pool are not a concern for us. Would appreciate some help in making this decision on whether or not we should change from standard to another view.

Hey DisneyMom, it sounds like you're staying at the hotel and not the DVC villas, so you may want to check out this thread. I've never stayed at the actual hotel portion, but if you're looking for a quiet room, we once had a DVC room overlooking the Redwood Creek Trails, and it was very peaceful even during the day.

We stayed once in the Brisa Courtyard right next to where the Monorail runs through the building. Beautiful, and there was no significant noise from the monorail. Downtown Disney view is okay, and, if on an upper floor it is certainly private enough (no one really looks up). But I would choose Brisa Courtyard again.

(I took this picture from our Balcony. This was Second Floor, but was not a DVC room. I used DVC points to exchange into a regular hotel room. NOT CHEAP! Note: The Monorail is moving at full speed.)
