Grand Californian questions

I'm staying at Grand Californian next month and I am so excited. I've only been to DL twice, most recently in 2005 and prior to that it was at the Disneyland Hotel when I was very young (we're talking the late 1970's!).

Does Grand Californian have an entrance directly into Downtown Disney? I know there is an entrance into DCA, but where does it let you in? It's not really near the regular main entrance is it?

How about the monorail? I can't picture where it is in relation to GC or where it drops you off.

Any things not to miss at GC?

Any and all advise is appreciated.

Yes there is an entrance to Downtown Disney. It lets you in right by World of Disney. The entrance into DCA is right across from Grizzly River Run. I can't remember where the monorail is in relaton to GCH.

I have never stayed at the GCH myself, but I do know that there IS a direct enterance from the resort into DTD, I think right by the World of Disney Store (GC vets please correct me if I'm wrong). The monorail travels between the buildings of the GC, so it goes through the resort but never through the actual building. However, there are only two stops to the monorail- Tomorrowland and downtown disney. So you would have to catch it at one of those stops if you wanted to ride it. Someone else will have to fill in on the not-to-miss things. It is a winderful resort and your lucky to dtay there! HTH!

You would need to turn left when you leave the GCH into Disneyland. It is across from the Lego store next to Rainforest Cafe. Monorail is more convenient for the DLH guests. I don't usually take it when I am staying at the GCH unless we are leaving DL park and going to DTD. I think it is faster and easier to walk back to the Grand.

When we stayed at the Grand California in January they were trying an experiment with the WOC fastpasses. They were handing them out to hotel guests near the entrance to DCA half an hour before the park opened. Does anybuddy know if they made this a permanent perk for the hotel guests?

Antually the main entrance into Downtown Disney is between Sephora and Studio 365. There is also a not so secret entrance (fire escape) into Downtown Disney that dumps you between La Brea Bakery and World of Disney, but thats only usefull for people staying in the east wing of the hotel, and it is also only one way meaning you can use it to get to the Disneyland quickly but you will have to use the regular Downtown Disney entrance when returning.
