Grand Californian - Early Check-in?

I know check-in is not until 4:00pm ( staying at the villas ), but we'll be arriving from another hotel early in the morning. Will we be able to check in with the front desk even if our rooms are not ready and leave our bags will bell services? I know we can do this at BCV in Florida, but...

For sure! We checked in just before 8 (so we could make MM), and they sent a text to my cell phone with our room number when it was ready, which was at 2:30!

If I am checking in early, can I use the pool even if the room isn't ready??

We are checking in on Sunday and I plan on arrived to GCH EARLY.....like before 8am. We usually take a break for lunch by the pool. Will I have a key to get to the pool and just not my room?

Yes! You'll be given a key as soon as you check in. We do this every summer. Enjoy!

yes, you can check in early and yes, you will get access to the pool area. You might have to request it but you CAN get it. Enjoy your GCH stay, GCH is the best in the area IMO.

We are so excited to be staying at GCH this trip. We have been countless times to the parks and have never stayed at this hotel. I think I resisted so long because I think I'm going to like it TOO much and won't ever want to stay anywhere else.

The weather appear to be cooling down for this weekend. Are there any other things just at the hotel that we shouldn't miss besides the pool?

I'd say don't miss the food offered at the hotel. White water snacks is a "hidden treasure" as it was never crowded during our visit and the food was good and served in a timely fashion at a reasonable (for a park hotel) price. Add to that a few beers by the pool and it was the perfect escape during the midday heat.

The Napa Rose was worth the money, pricey yes, but a good value.

Not food related, but hotel related.... don't miss out on the chance to get totally soaked by using the single rider line on grizzly river run then running back to the hotel pool. We went through over 1/2 a dozen times in less than 45 minutes.

We were worried as well and yes, the GCH is our favorite place to stay in the are. But we have yet to stay there again (we stayed there in Nov of 08 iirc) and we've been plenty of times. trust me, when the decision to go to DLR comes down to not going or staying off site you'll stay off site. lol

I agree . We love white water snacks. We had at least breakfast or lunch there everyday. We enjoyed getting drinks there while we were at the pool.

Our evening "ritual" was to have fastpasses for grizzly river run and ride it several times before returning to the hotel to swim. We thought this was much better than being in wet clothes at the park for the day.
