We are thinking about splurging and staying at the GCH during the summer of 2007. It will be in late July or early August. I want to get a park view room, and we may really splurge and go for a one bedroom suite (which are limited in number).

Does anyone have a feel for how far in advance we need to make reservations for this time period?

If you have a specific date in mind, I would book now and you can always cancel if it changes. As I remember, the cancellation policy through central reservations is 72 hours before check-in. Better safe than sorry! :thumbsup2

I must say it feels awkward answering a question of the expert!!!

I like to do it as far in advance as possible - usually 6 months at least. For our October trip a couple weeks ago we were fine, when we did Thanksgiving last year I know when I checked shortly after we booked the hotel was filled up. I always go through Costco (which is through Disney), or Disney, then it is only a $200 deposit when you book, and you pay the rest a week in advance. I do remember reading too where someone suggested calling the hotel and you can book without paying any down - but have never tried it. If you have the dates you want - I would do it so they don't go away!!

I would book now. We have stayed there before. We prefer the Downtown Disney view. It's fun to people watch on your balcony (think Boardwalk view at BWV) and you hear nothing once your door is closed. It's a much cheaper view too! No matter where you stay you will have a great time. It's the best Disney owned resort anywhere (IMHO). Good luck!

Thanks. If I am in fact an expert, it is only in some things DLR and not all things DLR. :)

Even many of the "real" experts who live near DLR and visit several times a month know almost nothing about hotels because they almost always do day trips.
