I want to get a studio room at the Grand Californian June 30th-July 5th but cannot use my points until 7 months out since it is not my home resort. I have found flights that are perfect but do not want to buy them until I know I can get a room for those dates.

Does anyone have experience getting a studio room 7 months out at the Grand Californian? How likely or unlikely is it for me to get a studio room?

I was able to reserve a studio at GCV at 7 months out for November. I had no problem.

If you get a studio at 7 months out during the summer at VGC you will be very lucky.

Last year the resort was sold out during this period.

It's a big gamble and unless you are prepared to stay at another hotel in the area I wouldn't book flights.

Outside summer I have found it easier to book at the 7 month window and have had no problems.

I'll find out on Friday. I'm calling for a studio for May 1 to 6. Waiting to get air, using award tickets. If I can't get in that week, I'll keep trying for another week in May.

I agree with the suggestion to wait on booking airfare.

IMO, summer is the perfect time to visit Disneyland and that's exactly why we bought points at VGC. Crowds may be somewhat bigger than off-season but select Passholders are frequently blacked out and the SoCal weather is much, MUCH better than Florida.

4th of July weekend is usually hard to get at any time. You may also want to look at possibly booking at either Paradise Pier or the Disneyland Hotel since those are also options.

Unfortunately I am only willing to use DVC points. No way I'm paying cash for a room when I've already paid plenty of cash for DVC.

Paradise Pier and Disneyland Hotel are both bookable with points. We stayed at Paradise Pier last year for somewhere around 26-30 points a night in June. We really liked it there and would do it again.

Really? I was totally unaware that you could use DVC points there.

:) Yep they are bookable on points, isn't it cool to come hear and learn something new every day?? I love it. Disneyland Hotel rooms look awesome from the pics.

Do you have to pay the $95 to book at Paradise or DL Hotel??

I've used points at PP twice. No $95 fee for Disneyland. They do become reservation points, so be sure before you reserve.

Called today for a studio May 1 to 6 (7 months exactly). Got it!

I just called member services and got 7 nights in a studio at VGC, May 5th to 12th!!! Going to call tomorrow to add another night!!! So excited! We have wanted to stay there for so long!

Good luck getting the dates you want...please keep us posted on how it works out.

Sounds like a good option and now I'm thinking maybe PP with a Park View. I can book that now instead of waiting til 7 months out. Thanks !

had no problem booking a studio at 7 months for the this past June:)

OK, I called November 30th to book a studio at Grand Californian June 30th-July 6th (I decided to add a day and go on the 30th instead of the 1st of July). I got it but was told it was the last studio room they had for the 4th of July weekend. I guess I got lucky!
