Is there a balcony to watch world of color from the grand california we will be there over thanksgiving and was wondering. thanks,

I am curious about this as well. We are heading to DL in Feb, pre and post cruise stay at the Grand Villas. It will be our first time at the Villas, second to the Grand. From what I am seeing, there is a Paradise Pier terrace in the Villas wing of the Grand that overlooks WOC? Hopefully someone out there that knows for sure will let us know!

Its on the 6th floor of the DVC villa wing, just go up, turn right from the elevators, and there is a sign that will say "Paradise Pier Terrace" from which you can watch the WOC. Get there about 10 minutes before the show as the rail fills up quickly right when it starts. I think they pipe in the music but honestly the villas are so close you can't not hear it from your room or the Terrace if you're on the balcony. Its a top view so you can see all the lasers and fountains, but can't really see the water screens. I like it for the lack of crowds, but I've seen the water screens a few times already. The best view is if you can get one of the villas that end in -00, -02, -04 on the third floor or above. We've been lucky enough to get an -00 twice.

Yes, there is a terrace at the Villas. It is very spacious and not crowded. Unfortunately the angle is wrong for viewing the show. You get the water show, the music and the color, but you cannot see the images projected on the waterscreen. My wife, daughter and I stayed at the villas in June of this year. The first night we tried the terrace and thought the show was okay. The second night we stayed at the park, got in our assigned space and really saw the show. It is amazing. If you have already seen it, the terrace is fine for viewing and enjoying the music, the water cannons and colors. Otherwise you need to be down in the park to really enjoy it. Some of the villas on the third floor that face into the park on the side facing California Screaming (not Grizzly Peak) may have a good view, but not sure, haven't been in them.

The Villas at Grand Californian are among the most impressive in the system.

Enjoy!

I think the terrace view is nice for those who have seen WOC many times already.

Can any GCH guest go up to the terrace? Or is it reserved for guest staying at the villas only?

Cards from any GCH guest will work on the door. At my DVC sales pitch, they had advertised it as a perk specifically for DVC members, but we know that DVC guides will say anything to get a sale. :rolleyes1

Nice! We'll give this a try next time we stay at the GCH. Thank you.:thumbsup2
