I am chasing my tail on where to stay for this trip.

I really would lkie to be closer than the HOJO for at least one trip.

so question I need a room for five do the standard rooms at the Grand allow for that? roll away?

I am looking at arrival sep. 28 nine nights . Will an AP get me much in terms of savings? Would anyone be willing to check for me? Plugging it in plain Jane the best I can see is around $400.

Last question are there adjoining rooms? I need a second room for two people.

THX :goodvibes

Some rooms have double queens with a day bed or you can get a sleeping bag for the floor, no rollaways the last time I stayed there. AP will get you a small discount. You may want to read this..http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2396588&highlight=grandcalifornian

Has just about everything you can think of about the GCH, they do have adjoining rooms but do not know how many or where they would be located. the thread has been alive for awhile now but thought you show know about it. Good luck...the sleeping bag thing is real.

I believe the rooms with bunk beds sleep 5 people (2 people in the Queen bed, and then there's a trundle bed that pulls out from under the bottom bunk...so there are 3 single beds there).

We have had adjoining rooms on our last 2 visits. We have always had a room with one King bed connecting to a room with 2 Queen beds. I'm not sure if they have connecting rooms with other configurations (e.g. bunk beds), but I'm sure you could call and ask.

The AP hotel discount can be 30% sometimes. The calendar does not currently go all the way out to September, so I don't know what the discount will be then.

If you have kids, a bunk bed room would work great - one queen, bunk beds + trundle (which can be slid back under during the day so it's out of the way) = 5 people. But the bunk beds are not full size, and they will not assign you a bunk bed room if you don't have kids on your reservation. You could also do the two queens + day bed. I find that the rooms are average size (not large by any means) so 4 (or more) people in a room is a little tight (esp. since there is only one bathroom!) but we aren't in the room much anyway, and the convenience is SO worth it!!

...I appreciate your taking the time.
Not concerned about being squishy, seven of our 9 nights my parents will also be there and we intend on having one of our kids bunk with them, (kids are 13/11/9) Thx

Just hope you get a better room than we did. The slog from our room to the center of the esplanade on our one and (hopefully) only stay at the Grand was as long as walking from the sidewalk outside HoJo to the same spot. UGH.

To avoid this (and to help you get your preferred bed configuration), put in a room request when you make the reservation. I always request a room close to the main elevator bank. Also, call the hotel directly to make sure that request is attached to your room, since WDTC and the hotel are on different reservation systems. (Who knows why.) Then, the morning of your check-in (I mean, first thing in the morning), call the GCH preregistration line to make sure you are getting what you are requested. It has worked for us! :)
