Here's an update on Grand Beach since we stayed there last week. I'd had a great time there in 2012 and recommended it to everyone. After this most recent stay, I'm more hesitant. It still has a great location on I-535 with easy access to I-536 and Disney World. The units are huge and have a lot of amenities.
On the other hand, we noticed that they're showing real signs of wear throughout the units. Our dishwasher had a drawer issue that made it a real challenge to use. There was also an issue with the dryer door where it would swing back and hit you in the head if you didn't hold it open. The place also had an issue with lots of ants on the kitchen counter and in the bathroom. The other challenge was the pushy concierge desk, who were rude and condescending on my check-in and called us multiple times at night after we'd spent a day at the parks. I tried to be friendly, but they seemed really fake and manipulative. I was clear and said I wasn't interested in any "open house", but they kept pushing. I know that's normal for timeshare resorts, but they weren't this way in 2012.
I don't mean to discourage anyone from staying here, but I wasn't the haven I remembered. It's more in the mid-range now.
