Our kids DS6, DD8 are interested in this as an alternative to the pirate cruise which they've done twice now.

My questions are:

Has anyone done this before and what was it like?

Would you recommend it?

What kind of food do the kids make?

We were also thinking of tea with Alice...is this a better alternative?

My 7 yr old DD has done this twice and keeps asking to go back!

Last year she made mini pizzas and this year it was mini apple pies.

The kids get to keep the aprons and hats they make along with some wonderful memories. Worth every penny as far as we are concerned!

My kids have done this also! And they both enjoyed it...DS was 4 and DD was 6 at the time. My 9 year old DS had no desire to participate.

They liked making the hats and aprons, and sharing their goodies with the resort guests in the lobby. However, it was not way cool to them, they had fun but they have not asked to do it again.

Another fun thing to do (this you do with your kids) is the Family Magic tour. My 9 year old DS thought this was cool, and repeatedly asks to do it again. I think if my kids had a choice they would pick the Family Magic Tour over the Adventures in cooking. But if you are wanting a solo activity for your kids that wouldn't help LOL.

Good luck and have a great trip!

Sorry, reread your post and realized I didn't answer two questions...

My kids made several different kinds of cookies.

There are no characters at this event, so if your kids really want to interact with characters Alice's tea party might be a better choice.

My kids did like it, but I don't think they LOVED it as it hasn't been mentioned since our trip.

How did your kids like the Pirate Cruise?

Thanks suzan...

They LOVED the pirate cruise the first time, but the second time not as much so. It may have been because it lost it's novelty, but I think it may have been the CM's were better on the first. The first trip they had the kids yelling "yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me, ARGH!!" as they pulled up at the dock...all in all it seemed a little rowdier, which they liked.

DH and I like sending them off for a couple of hours while we have an adults only breakfast at the GF Cafe. It is my all-time favorite breakfast place in the World. The frittatas, turkey sausage and eggs benedict are all yummy.

I love our kids and everything, but DH and I can't believe how relaxing and romantic it is to be by ourselves at Disney. This time is OUR time, but we also want the kids to have a nice experience. We also dropped them at the Neverland Club in July while we went to Citricos (which I HIGHLY recommmend).

I don't think that characters are a necessity (i.e. tea with Alice) so long as it's good fun.

My kids were 8 and 4 this summer at the cooking adventure and I know they enjoyed it. They made individual strawberry banana shortcakes. I would say that if your kids liked the rowdier side of the pirate cruise, this GA in cooking would not seem at all rowdy to me. There is a lot of handwashing and rule-following since they are making the food to hand out to (possibly) complete strangers in the lobby at the GF Cafe. The hats and aprons are adorable and I have some of my best pictures from the whole trip from the lobby when they were handing out the food. Everyone in our family had either one or two shortcakes. I doubt we'd do it again, but it was really nice to do once.
