Sorry if this is the wrong board didnt know if it should go under Attractions or Transportation.

So I was thinking of proposing to my Girlfriend in an upcoming trip. And so I wanted to get opinions on which cruise would be better to pop the question on. The Breathless checking out Illuminations or the Grand 1 checking out the fireworks over MK.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can share their stories of being on either cruise and or any info on a good way to pop the question to her. I really want it to be romantic. Thanks. Alex.

both are fabolous & fun for a special occasion. me & my fiance love illuminations & have done the illuminations cruise & moonlight cruise on the breathless & a pontoon from the yacht club, we also ordered wine & strawberries on board through inroom dining/catering from the yacht club. make sure to call at exactly 90 days as both cruises are popular & to bring a camera for the special moment & let your driver in on it. fyi - the breathless was like $140 but the grand1 was $300 an hour to rent. the grand1 we used on a family/group event from the grand floridian.

best of luck with the ressie 407-wdw-play & proposing to your lucky lady.

Way Cool!
Both boats have their advantages.
The Grand 1 is a very big boat. You will have plenty of room to get down on one knee. I could picture doing this out on the bow of the boat with Cinderella's Castle and Wishes in the background. The Grand 1 is more expensive, and I think, think mind you, that it includes a staff of three.
Breathless is also beautiful. I could see you seated in the back seat, crusin' around Crescent Lake and Creek, watching IllumiNations and then popping the question as the finale lights up the sky. You may be able to get down on your knee, but the space will be limited.
Quite a choice to have to make!
Good Luck!

I have not been on the Grand (yet) But I have been on Breathless numerous times. 2x for Illuminations & numerous "Bursts"

While I clearly love Breathless, I don't think it's nearly as romantic as the Grand. When you are viewing Illuminations you are scrunched in between all these Pontoon boats full of people, that has gotten worse over the years as they have added more Pontoons to the Illuminations fleet.(One of a couple reasons we won't do Breathless Illuminations cruises anymore) There is no room at all to get down on one knee. If I were getting proposed to, I would like it to be a more Private affair like you could have a Grand 1. I'm not one of those people who would want a whole bunch of strangers waiting for my answer & clapping. But, some women are. You know which your girlfriend is.

Either way - Good Luck & Congrats in advance! Your GF is a lucky lady to have a man who is planning such a great proposition! :goodvibes

I have only done a regular Wishes Cruise on a pontoon boat. I could see how it would be the perfect way to propose. It was so beautiful to watch the fireworks fall over the MK Castle like pixie dust then reflect into the water, just gorgeous. In addition, the music from Wishes is about well wishes coming true, but better wish could a girl have than a fiance who would go through the trouble of taking her on a WDW of any kind to pop the big question. Way to go, good luck, and best wishes!

This is all great info! Thank you!

For once I am not worried about the cost. I am more worried about the romance but also the space to get down on the knee now that everyone is mentioning the Breathless may not have enough room. I have to get down on the knee!

That is great information. I would like it to be as romantic and secluded as possible. If there are going to be many Pontoon boats around I don't want it to distract or detract from the mood or the moment.

I believe the Grand 1 has the captain and a first mate. I was planning on tipping the first mate to possibly filming as much as possible with my camcorder. I want to bring a bottle of bubbly and that was really it.

Thanks for all the info and the encouragement. I want to try and pull this of with no problems!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Also if you book the grand they can also asist you with private dining. They can create a whole meal for you, or just dessert, strawberries, champagne etc. They may also be able to help you pull something off like hiding the ring in a dessert etc. the possibilities for them are endless.

that is the best thing I ever heard. I personally think that Wishes is more romantic than illuminations but that is just me. The music is awesome in both. good luck I am sure it will be awesome either way.

I'm so glad to hear you chose the Grand. Any woman would be over the Moon about a night on the Grand 1, esp. ending with a marriage proposal. :cloud9:

I really wish you a Grand Night that Magical Memories are made of. Have fun planning this very special evening which will be the first step on a whole new part of your life! (Pretend this is a Cheers Smilie)

I personally love the Grand 1 but I have never experienced the Breathless. We did the Wishes cruise on the Grand 1 on the 21st as our thank you to our guests for coming to our Disney Wedding. It was absolutely beautiful. The emotion I felt when the boat pulled up and the total awe I was in cannot even be captured and put into words. They picked us up at the Polynesian which was even more perfect for us since all the days events had been there. That night the emotion of Wishes really hit me because I had always used my wishes on that first star on finding the right man for me and that night it was no longer a wish but a reality. The view of the castle is gorgeous from the water. There were some boats around and one pontoon boat stopped and asked if we'd just gotten married when we said yes they celebrated with us before moving on. The romance factor on that boat for me is a million out of a possible ten. My new husband and I talked last night about maybe taking the cruise again in the future and having dinner on board. I personally think it would be a winner for a proposal.

So do they pull up the Grand 1 and park it facing away from the park so you can see the fireworks from the open space in the back of the boat?

And would dinner be inside the yacht or outside on the back? I'm really trying to picture this all as much as possible!

I appreciate everyones info so much I really do. Thank you!

The diiner would be inside I believe there is everything underneath even a bed room ( could be worng) I bet if you wanted to eat on deck they could arrange that too. They can do anything you can dream of basically. If you are going to eat though you woulld probbaly need more than an hour so keep that in mind when figuring costs. Also try doing a search for the Grand one . There are pictures floating around somewhere on here.
