So as not to hijack the whole Coronado thread, figured I would start this one here. Maybe to post updates or information. We are here with 2 rooms on 11th floor and no power since around 8am. Its now 317pm, got back from park, still nothing is back on in the room. Someone in the elevator said they have no water either. This is not what I expected, to say the least! Lol but hey still taking it with a grain of salt, not trying to be ultra negative about the whole thing. Hopefully the power will be back soon and that will be that.

Are you water view or standard view? Someone in a FB group said only water view is affected so I’m curious if that holds true?

We’re on the 12th floor, standard view, with no power. Just got a call on my cell from front desk - they are proactively moving people from the sections with no power to new rooms. They have no idea when it will be resolved. This will be our third room in as many days! They offered a one night credit on our account.

Likely, a transformer that supplies a certain section of the building has gone bad. I own a service company that manages several condominium complexes and although this is not a common occurrence, it is one we have dealt with in the past. It's a matter of removing the entire transformer and replacing it, the transformers are very specific and a replacement that matches the exact specifications must be located and installed. I'm talking about a building of 30 or so units. We usually had everything up and running within the day, but 230 rooms is a different beast all together. That's likely a large transformer that went out. Who knows if WDW has spares lying around for occurrences like this or not?
As for the water, the water is likely supplied via an electric pumping system as it needs pressure to push up the tower likely to tanks located at the top and then gravity takes over to supply floors downward. A re-circulation pump is used to keep the hot water flowing constantly through the pipes as well. If both pumps are effected, then once the tank on the top drains, no more water!

Good insight. Thank you. I would have done a risk evaluation if I was the/a PM on the project and stock those items that could effect the "masses" during an outage. So, yeah, a spare parts list although costly is better than negative PR of this magnitude.

While I'm sure it's annoying to those there right now...crap happens. They are moving people, I've read some people moved to suites, some to Grand Floridian! Some have had nights comped.
I don't see any long lasting negative PR out of this. If there is, people are ridiculous.

Now if it goes on for days, then they have a problem...and I do think it's weird that it's been all day and people are still reporting they are being told no one knows why it's out yet!

Sure, crap happens, but I had a friend who stayed there two weeks ago and was trapped in the elevator for over an hour. She said it dropped twice. So, crap, apparently, continues to happen there and it sounds like something is terribly awry. Hopefully, after today and all of the upgrades and comps they had to hand out, they will get these problems fixed quickly and permanently.

Was she staying at the Hollywood Tower Hotel by chance?
