Hey everyone! I'm going to Disney in April with some of my high school Senior class. Has anyone ever attended Grad Nite?? I've been to Disney several times but never have I gone with my friends. Is there anything that my friends and I should make a point to go to? I'm really looking forward to going. Your ideas will be greatly appreciated! :yay:

Thankssssss :wave2:

Hi! My daughter and I are attending Grad Nite on April 19th. She is most looking forward to the concerts and getting her pic with Mickey in his cap and gown! Whatever you and your friends do, you are sure to have an amazing time!

I attended Grad Nite 1988!!! This news really doesn't help you but I just wanted to reply. I went to school in NW Florida so it was about a 6 hour bus ride. Back then, we all had to wear formal wear for the pre-dinner and at the park. That was a PAIN. Boys in ties and jackts, and girls wearing dresses with pantyhose and heels. I think I heard that this changed some years later. No idea why they'd come up with that idea in the first place. Weird seeing a sea of suits and dresses as far as the eye could see. It wasn't very cool wearing a crenolin (sp?) skirt under a dress while trying to ride in Small World or Space Mountain

You don't have to dress up anymore like that for Grad Nite, do you?

FYI, Journey perfomed at our Grad Nite

i read somewhere on the boards that they close the parks early for grad nite and only grads get to be at the park. if this is true... what park is it at? and why on my Itinerary that they message us with does it not say anything about it... I will be in DisneyWorld April 17-21 and want to plan where we will be on which day! Thanks in advance!::MinnieMo

I think it's at Magic Kingdom only.

Yep, it's at the MK (2009 will be at Hollywood Studios) and is only for grad groups who have previously reserved the special grad night package ($40.42 per ticket plus tax for one night). You have to have the special grad night ticket to get in. Here's the info:

April 18, 19 and April 25, 26, 2008

Grad Nites are special hard-ticketed private parties for graduating high school seniors, which begin at 10 p.m. and run until 4 a.m. The Magic Kingdom closes at 7 p.m. on those nights in order to set up for these parties.

Admission to Disney Grad Nite is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Senior class advisors should submit a completed application well in advance to reserve tickets for the night of their choice. It's easy for senior class advisors to plan a trip. Proper attire is required, and groups must be accompanied by at least 1 chaperone..

In 2008, Grad Nite will rock with DJ's and live performances including The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Ne-Yo, The Last Goodnight, and Cheskob, and more!

Disney Grad Nite is as much a part of high school graduation as caps and gowns, diplomas, and "Pomp and Circumstance." Grad Nite at the Walt Disney World® Resort continually sets the standard as the ultimate safe and fun-filled senior celebration. On magical spring nights each year, the Magic Kingdom® Park hosts the biggest and best graduation tradition -- a once-in-a-lifetime celebration full of top-name musical performers, thrilling Theme Park attractions, Disney Characters, high-energy dance floors, and special times with lifelong friends! Disney Grad Nite Blast-Off Parties are a great way to kick off the festivities.

If you look at the MK park hours for those particular April dates, it does show that MK closes at 7PM so since it's already listed under park hours I guess that's why they don't mention it on your itinerary:

I don't think I've ever seen a tie (other than on a CM) ever while at Disney! :rotfl:

Here's the 2008 dress code:

Guys — Casual pants (including khaki style and jeans), shorts, shirts (golf style shirts, dress shirts, t-shirts with sleeves if in good condition, sport jackets, dress suits, comfortable shoes (including tennis shoes, dress shoes, and boots).

Unacceptable:
Any clothing affiliated with a school, professional sports team, group, club, etc. (Chaperones and faculty members will be permitted to wear school affiliated golf shirts or polos)
Clothing not in good repair (torn jeans, pants, shirts, etc.) Jeans are okay as long as they are not ripped or torn.
Revealing clothing (i.e. bathing suit tops or bottoms, cropped tops, see-through clothing, etc)

Also, Walt Disney World® Resort Cast Members have the right to refuse admission to anyone they deem not appropriately dressed for the event and not following these guidelines. The dress code for Disney Grad Nite will be enforced throughout the event by all Cast Members working the event.

Thanks for the info! :) now i see that in the park hours section. I was looking for "Grad Night" or something of the sort! I guess those nights will be spent at Epcot and MGM...err.. Hollywood Studios!

I went to grad nite in '95 when I was a senior and let me say that it was the most miserable experience I have ever had at Disney or any park for that matter. There was no room to walk around. It was literally shoulder to shoulder people. Rides --- forget about it. 3 hour waits for just about everything. Me and my friends just found a corner in Liberty Square and sat on a bench and talked all night long, which we could have easily done at one of our homes.

I would not recommend going, unless you have an urge that you feel you need to quench. If you want to go that bad, just go at a regular time. Trust me, you will enjoy it much, much more.
