Grad nights are we in trouble??

well we just got the call for chaperones
once again my high school that I teach at is 90 from Disneyland, cost is $250 for students and they are leaving at 8pm, they are doing nothing during the day, you know all how I was accused of having "incorrect information" as if other people teach at my school?
So I ask you, worth the cost? I still don't think so.

OP
yes..it's true....you're screwed
as a high school teacher (and one who has chaperoned a fair share of gradnights),.....my advice is to run.....run as far and as fast as you can

I don;t get the allure of gradnights for these kids (and I'm in the LA area) it is expensive as hell ($250!!!) the parks are ten times more crowded than the busiest summer day, and it is LOUD!! I just don't get it. Seems cheaper and easier just to take them during a normal day, especially since we are only 90 minutes away. $250!!

Being a high school senior....our trip is over $500 this year....I cancelled the trip. Thought wow what a waste...and I could plan my own trip. Dont see why they pay the money! and I am ONE DISNEY OBSESSED TEEN!

Ruh-roh. When I booked my trip, I knew that 2 of my days were grad nights. However, now it is three as they have added the Wednesday of my week as well. I am hoping it won't be too much of an issue.

$500?! That's insane! Good thing you cancelled because I don't think that's worth it for one night, especially since I'm guessing you would still have to bring your own money for food and stuff. I say you start planning a trip for yourself :thumbsup2

We have happened to be there on grad nights (or mites) for the last few years, and I don't notice any difference in crowd levels. We are going this year as well, and I am not worried at all. It just doesn't affect it enough to worry over it!

Now going over a vacation week (talk to me about going Thanksgiving week and I will be happy to give you an earful) is another story. Grad mites are harmless!:goodvibes So are grad nights.

I would think any kind of problem with mites would cause some trouble....:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Well I am trying to convince daddy into a last min trip so I can get some grad ears....we will see if he goes for it!

But we did just book a cruise on the Fantasy and 4 days at WDW before hand as my grad trip, so if we dont make it to Disneyland.....I might be able to handle it!

I'm glad to hear that they aren't planning on coming in until the evening. I'm hoping that most schools will just do a 'business as usual' approach to grad night and not have the park full of crazy teenagers (they get extra crazy when they are in a group) all day. Only one of our days is a grad night (at least, last time I checked there was only one), so I'm hoping it won't be too full of teens.

I am only one high school among many
Mine is going on May 23rd

Not sure if you've realized this yet...but you should know before you go that Grad Nite events are completely reconfigured as of this year. My family will be in the parks on 4 of the Grad Nite days this year, and while I hope it doesn't end up being a huge negative...the fact that their tickets now include an all day PH (+ 2 FP's for any rides they choose...) does have the *potential* to affect crowds pretty substantially.

Again, I'm hopeful that it won't be too bad (on the other hand, I feel badly for the kids who are spending so much for such a minimal experience...), but we're prepared to ditch our last DLR day for Magic Mountain instead if it gets too unenjoyable due to Grad Nite days.

Haha, yeah I think you'll be just fine. Have fun! :cool1:

You'll be there on the last day of my trip! I'm also pretty happy to hear you guys will be there in the evening. Do you know if the other schools are only going in the evening?

I don't know about other schools but it just still seems so...so...expensive and ridiculous that now gradnight are all day (whats the purpose of calling it gradNIGHT) so why not take advantage and go during the day instead of just night? and the price??!?!?!?!
