The other day we got a postcard from Mickey giving us a great room discount. I really, really, really want to take him up on his generous offer. Unfortunately, the only time it looks like I can get away would be the weekend of 22 - 25 April. Grad Night is scheduled for two of those nights. I have never heard good, bad or ugly how it is at the hotels, pools and parks when thousands of high school seniors are there. Has anyone lived through this and can tell me if this will be a bad time to go with DD10 and DS5? My DH is active duty military and gone for the year, so I was thinking this quick trip might just be what we all need to make it through these last few months before he comes home.

Thanks!

We were there last year over Grad Night Weekend.

And as luck would have it we are there for BOTH Grad Night Weekends this year.

Last year we were in the POFQ & there were no problems with high school kids. In fact the only kids I saw were the one with parents in small family groups.

This year we are staying at the CS.

The only "bad" thing for us was that the MK closes early on the nights of Grad Night. :sad1:

Other then that there were no problems for us.

My college program was during "grad night season" and from what i saw ( i worked every grad night) most of the schools that participate are local florida schools that only show up when its time for check in for thier grad night... there are other schools however that do travel down for it but i never noticed the parks being uber crowded during those days.
I hope that helps

Ummm... I did a search on "grad night" recently & got some
disappointing threads!
I believe the impact will depend on whether or not
you're staying at the All Stars.
If not, you may not even notice,
but others did - the seniors get packages
for the entire weekend, four to a room.
Some people did notice large groups in
MK & MGM, & some went so far as to suggest
staying away even during the day!
So, if you just want to get an idea I suggest doing the search,
at least it will help with preparation.
Whatever you decide, have fun!!

In 2002 my son and I stayed the WL for a long weekend in April that just happened to be one of the Grad weekends. We didn't notice any signs of extra teens around at all. The only impact to us was that MK was closed at night to regular parkgoers, so we spent evenings at Epcot and MGM and did things at MK during the day.

This is actually encouraging to me... :goodvibes as our daughter graduates in 2 years and they do a Disney Grad thing. I'v always told her I'd go to Chaperone (not as dumb as I look) :rotfl: But I have wondered if it was crazy there...this is good news to this Mom! :teeth:
